  • Publication number: 20100180613
Abstract: An expansion valve having a tubular member (15) for receiving a low-pressure refrigerant (14) sent from an evaporator (13) and also having a tube member (16) inserted in the tubular member (15) and receiving a high-pressure refrigerant sent from a condenser (12). The expansion valve has a valve mechanism (17) provided in the tube member (16). An end wall (18) is formed at one end (15a) of the tubular member (15), and the end wall (18) has a low-pressure inflow hole (19) for allowing the refrigerant (14) sent from the evaporator (13) to flow into the tubular member (15) and a high-pressure outflow hole (20) for allowing the refrigerant (14) to flow out from the tube member (16) into the evaporator (13).

  • Patent number: 5715705
Abstract: An evaporator/expansion valve unit for use in an automotive air conditioning system, comprises an evaporator which includes first and second parallely extending elongate tanks and a plurality of flat hollow elements mounted on the first and second elongate tanks. The interior of each element is in a fluid communication with the interior of each tank. The first tank is formed with inlet and outlet openings. A block type expansion valve has a first passage which is closed when a spherical valve body abuts against a given part of the first passage against a certain force applied thereto and a second passage which has a temperature sensing means by which the certain force is varied in accordance with the temperature of a refrigerant flowing in the second passage. The first passage has an outlet opening connected to the inlet opening of the first tank. The second passage has an inlet opening connected to the outlet opening of the first tank. The expansion valve has the first tank directly mounted thereon.

  • Patent number: 5555739
Abstract: A cooler unit housing is located in a passenger room near a dashboard of a motor vehicle. A piping arrangement of the cooler unit comprises a pipe joint which is positioned at and supported by an opening of the dashboard. The pipe joint has a first face facing toward the passenger room and a second face facing toward the engine room. An expansion valve unit is connected to the first face of the pipe joint. Coolant inlet and output pipes are arranged, each having one end connected to an evaporator in the cooler unit housing and the other end led to the expansion valve unit. A grommet is disposed between a peripheral portion of the opening and an outer wall portion of the pipe joint thereby to establish sealing therebetween.
