  • Patent number: 8670646
Abstract: A CPI_type is stated in the PlayList( ) The CPI Type comprises a EP_type and a EP_map type. If the position of an I-picture can be known by analysis, EP_type is used, whereas, if the position of an I-picture cannot be known by analysis, EP_map type is used. Therefore, AV stream data recorded subject to analysis of the I-picture and AV stream data recorded without analyzing the I-picture position can be supervised in common.

  • Patent number: 8655149
Abstract: For a large capacity recording medium, a user interface having high flexibility and enriched representation is accomplished. A flag that represents whether a play item has a multiple angle structure of which the play item is reproduced with a plurality of angles is described. In addition, a flag that represents whether the beginning of each decode unit is an angle switchable point is described. In a seamless multiple angle structure, the current angle can be switched without need to increase the number of interleave units. In a nonseamless multiple angle structure, with the flag, in a predetermined region on the rear end side of each angle, the current angle is prohibited from being switched. Thus, when a play item exits from the multiple angle, discontinuity in the reproduction can be prevented. In addition, with a flag that represents whether a sub play item should be reproduced not in synchronization with a main path, the sub play item of only audio data can be used as a BGM.

  • Patent number: 8625398
Abstract: A data recording and reproducing configuration in which both of BDMV standard compliant data and BDMV standard non-compliant data can be used is realized. A plurality of directories are set in a recording media, and a recording destination directory is selected according to the types of data. The BDMV standard compliant data is recorded in a BDMV directory, and the BDMV standard non-compliant data, for example, 1080/60p or 3D image data are recorded in a BDAV or BU directory. At the time of data reproducing process, a virtual file system in which the recorded data in the BDMV directory and the recorded data in the BDAV/BU directory are consolidated is constructed to achieve the reproducing process. With this configuration, the recording and reproducing of the BDMV standard compliant data and the BDMV standard non-compliant data are achieved.

  • Patent number: 8606080
Abstract: For a content-prerecorded large capacity disc-shaped recording medium, a user interface having high flexibility is accomplished. Button image data, corresponding sound data as an effect sound, and control commands for the sound data and image data are multiplexed with a stream and recorded on the disc. A scenario reproduced from the disc is stored in a buffer. The image data and sound data are stored in a buffer. Image data is read from the buffer in accordance with a scenario and expanded to a graphics plane. In addition, corresponding sound data is read from the buffer and reproduced by a sound player. When a button image is varied in accordance with a state change of the button, an effect sound is reproduced. As a result, a more effective user interface is accomplished.

  • Patent number: 8503859
Abstract: A reproducing apparatus and a reproducing method reproduce content data recorded on a recording medium. Video data, audio data reproducible in accordance with the video data, and information that indicates whether the video data and the audio data have been recorded as a multiplexed file or as independent files are read from the recording medium. The read video data and audio data are reproduced in accordance with the read information. When the information indicates that the video data and the audio data have been recorded as a multiplexed file on the recording medium, still pictures derived from the video data are reproduced in synchronization with the audio data. When the information indicates that the video data and the audio data have been recorded as independent files on the recording medium, the still pictures derived from the video data are reproduced without being in synchronization with the audio data.

  • Patent number: 8462598
Abstract: This invention relates to an information providing system, a reproducing apparatus, a reproducing method, an information providing apparatus, an information providing method, a recording medium, and a program. If an instruction is given to download a Japanese language audio file, update files corresponding to the content recorded on an optical disc 11 are downloaded. After being downloaded as the update files, audio stream files in Japanese are recorded to a local storage 12 along with accompanying clip information files, play list files for controlling reproduction of the audio stream files, and an updated navigation program file. The updated navigation program is used illustratively to reproduce a clip 3 audio stream file in Japanese. This invention applies among others to players to which a recording medium that stores contents is removable.

  • Patent number: 8369683
Abstract: A state transition of a player operation is explicitly defined to facilitate the production of interactive contents. As a player model for reproducing a disk, a model including a player 300 for reproducing a stream, a platform 301 providing an interface between the player 300 and a hardware, and a script player 302 for realizing a scenario intended by a content producer is conceived. The states of the player 300 are defined by four states defined by combinations of two states as to whether the play list reproduction is performed or not and two states as to whether the command 311 is accepted or not. The state transition of the player 300 among the four states is generated by a method 313 from the script layer 302, but not by the player 300 itself or the command 311. The states of the player 300 are small in number, and the conditions for state transition are definite. Therefore, the interactive contents can be easily produced and mounted on devices.

  • Publication number: 20130022334
Abstract: A data recording/playing configuration capable of easily acquiring attribute information on a frame constituting a 3D image recorded on a recording medium. The attribute information of the 3D image is recorded in each of hierarchized management information files as an attribute in units of management data of each of the management information files. When a coding method is a frame sequential method, frame identification data indicating whether each frame is a left-eye image (L image) or a right-eye image (R image) are recorded; and when the coding method is an inter-view reference coding method where any one of L and R images is referred to during decoding, base image identification data indicating which one of the L and R images is a base image are recorded. Thereby, a playing apparatus can determine an attribute of a frame without performing analysis of data to be played.

  • Publication number: 20130022337
Abstract: A data recording/playing configuration capable of recording different attribute information according to methods of coding a 3D image and decoding according to the coding method, by acquiring attribute information. A method of coding a 3D image included in data to be recorded in a recoding medium is determined; attribute information to be recorded in a management information file is changed according to the determined coding method; and attribute information unique to each coding method is recorded in the management information file. For example, if the coding method is a frame sequential method, frame identification data indicating whether a frame constituting the 3D image is a left-eye image or a right-eye image is recorded as the attribute information. A playing apparatus acquires information unique to the coding method from the attribute information, so a decoding process corresponding to the coding method can be performed without error.

  • Publication number: 20130016957
Abstract: A data recording and reproducing configuration capable of determining whether or not a three-dimensional image is included in data recorded in a recording medium and determining a coding state and the like in units of fine data is realized. In performing data recording processing on the recording medium, three-dimensional image information as image attribute information in units of data, which is obtained by further dividing management target data in a clip information file, is recorded in the clip information file which stores management information of a stream file storing image data. Specifically, the three-dimensional image information is recorded as unique information in units of program sequences set in the clip information file. With such a configuration, a reproduction apparatus can detect presence and a coding state of the three-dimensional image in data division units without performing analysis on reproduction target data.
