  • Publication number: 20010005432
Abstract: A decoding LSI adaptable to MPEG4 is provided with a padding means for performing padding on decoded texture data, an arithmetic decoding means for performing arithmetic decoding on coded shape data, and a composition means for compositing a plurality of texture data to generate composite image data. The padding means, the arithmetic decoding means, and the composition means are implemented by hardware circuits, i.e., a padding engine, an arithmetic decoding engine, and a composition engine, respectively. Therefore, the decoding LSI can perform high-speed decoding on a bitstream corresponding to plural objects, such as images, which are compressively coded by the MPEG4 coding method, with reduced cost of the hardware circuits performing the decoding process.

  • Patent number: 6088396
Abstract: To facilitate editing of first and second compressed picture data each having been obtained by prediction-coding, the second compressed picture data is modified by decoding a frame of the second compressed picture data at an editing point and re-coding the decoded data such that every frame around the editing point can be decoded after editing. The first compressed picture data and the modified second compressed picture data are linked to complete the editing. To facilitate mixing of a compressed picture data with a non-compressed picture data, the compressed picture data is decoded and added to the non-compressed picture data to obtain a mixed picture data. The mixed picture data is re-coded to be a compressed picture data. In each of the editing and mixing, the re-coding may be performed by using at least one of the motion compensation information, motion vector information and orthogonal transform mode information which can be derived from the compressed picture data during the decoding process.

  • Patent number: 6005623
Abstract: An image conversion apparatus for converting and outputting the spatial resolution, temporal resolution, or image quality of compressed image data input thereto is provided. A compression-coded frame-unit image signal An input from the input signal line is changed to real-time image data Rn by an image decoding unit. • Patent number: 5949754
Abstract: A network manager, when a transmission is requested from any FA equipment under control by the network manager, sets a flag indicating a loop direction for transmission in a transmission frame and transmits the transmission frame to other stations, and when network controllers receive the transmission frame with a flag indicating the loop direction set therein, the network controllers check whether the loop through which the transmission frame was actually received is the same as that indicated by the flag in the received transmission frame or not, and if it is determined that the loop through which the transmission frame was actually received is different from that indicated by the flag above, the network controllers send the transmission frame including an error report indicating the loop direction to the network manager.

  • Patent number: 5887111
Abstract: The picture reproduction apparatus of this invention reproduces compressed image data which has been compressed using inter-frame encoding, extracts a header from the reproduced image data, taking out intra-frame encoded image data using the information of the header. Invalid data is added to the image data other than the intra-frame encoded data. The image data is output into a picture decoding apparatus, so as to obtain a reproduced video image during playback in fast forward and fast reverse. Alternatively, valid image data is detected from the reproduced image data.

  • Patent number: 5832229
Abstract: The multicast communication scheme which can enable a user to easily comprehend the multicast groups existing on the network, easily carry out an operation to join a desired multicast group, and easily specify a desired communication quality. At each user terminal, a virtual space with a plurality of regions defined therein in correspondence to a plurality of multicast groups is displayed on a screen, while an information indicating a range of each region in the virtual space is stored in correspondence to an address information for a corresponding multicast group. A desired position in the virtual space on the screen is specified by an input device, and joining/leaving to/from multicast groups is controlled by using the address information stored in correspondence to a region in the virtual space which contains the desired position.

  • Patent number: 5784107
Abstract: An excellent picture coding scheme, adapted to suit any particular picture movement, divides an input picture data into two-dimensional small blocks including frame small blocks and field small blocks, then calculates the block activity of the frame and field small blocks. By comparing field block activity with frame block activity, a total of two-dimensional blocks indicating that field block activity is greater than frame block activity is calculated. When the total calculated above is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, frame unit coding is performed. When the total calculated above, however, is below the predetermined value, the frame is divided into odd-and even-numbered fields and a field unit coding is performed for the frame.

  • Patent number: 5567522
Abstract: A diamond cutting tool has a rake face (5) of a cutting edge member (2) consisting essentially of a (111) plane of diamond. The cutting edge member (2) of diamond is vapor-deposited by CVD or the like on an independently prepared base material. In this vapor deposition, the diamond is deposited while controlling and periodically varying the carbon to hydrogen ratio of the supplied raw material gas, in such a manner that a (111) crystal plane is oriented with a prescribed fluctuation or non-uniformity, but is substantially parallel to the base material surface. The as-formed diamond material is separated from the base material and cut into a desired shape, and then bonded as a cutting edge member (2) to a tool base (1) through a metallization layer (4) and a brazing layer (3), in such an orientation that the (111) plane defines the rake face (5).
