The reproducing apparatus further includes an error correcting unit that corrects the reproduced video data sequence for an error, and a control unit that substitutes data of a picture including an error that is uncorrectable by the error correcting unit with predetermined encoded data so as to output the same image as a picture immediately previous to the picture including the uncorrectable error when the video data sequence is decoded.
