Abstract: A gateway server 40, in the case that discontinuation of TCP Connection A between a portable phone 10 and gateway server 40 is detected when gateway server 40 is relaying HTTP communication between portable phone 10 and a content server 70, maintains TCP Connection B1 between a billing management server 50 and gateway server 40 until gateway server 40 receives from billing management server 50 billing information for HTTP communication relayed up to the time of the discontinuation of TCP Connection A.

Abstract: When gateway server 30 receives an email, which is addressed to mobile station 10, gateway server 30 transmits an email arrival notice to mobile station 10. When gateway server 30 receives an acknowledgement response (referred to as ‘Ack’ hereinafter) responding to the email arrival notice from mobile packet communication network 20, gateway server 30 evaluates the status of mobile station 10 on the basis of the type of Ack, and determines whether to transmit the email or not. Moreover, gateway server 30 modifies the time interval for retransmitting the email arrival notice to mobile station 10 according to the status of mobile station 10 when the transmission of the email arrival notice fails.

Abstract: When a gateway server GWS receives an access demand to an IP server from a cellular phone MS via a mobile packet communication network MPN, the gateway server acquires information corresponding to a hostname included in the access demand from a primary conversion table T1. When the obtained information is a wide area IP address, gateway server GWS relays the access demand to a IP server on the Internet INET on the basis of the wide area IP address. When the obtained information is identification of a closed area network, gateway server GWS further acquires a closed area IP address corresponding to the hostname included in the access demand and relays the access demand to a IP server on the basis of the closed area IP address in the LAN corresponding to the identification of the closed area network.

Abstract: Base station BS adds a base station ID for specifying itself to a signal transmitted from mobile station MS. Data distribution management unit GWS3 of gateway server GWS extracts the base station ID added to a GET request and reads out an area name corresponding to the base station ID from area name conversion table TBL. Data distribution management unit GWS3, using the area name as a search key, searches location-related information database GWS4 for location-related information corresponding to a present location of mobile station MS and transmits the information to mobile station MS.

Next, Mobile station MS extracts a URL, telephone number, or electronic mail address designated by an anchor tag in the obtained HTML data and stores them with a title in the flash memory of mobile station MS.
