  • Publication number: 20130166570
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to appropriately select a volume or the like to be allocated to a host computer, thereby decreasing work efficiency. Upon being inputted with a precondition (for example, a user ID, a host ID and a work label ID) based on information inputted from a user, a management server 10 identifies a search condition set corresponding to the precondition and recommends this search condition set to the user. The user can utilize the recommended search condition as-is, or after changing a portion thereof. The management server instructs a storage system to allocate the retrieved volume or the like to the host.

  • Patent number: 8001349
Abstract: In the computer system including at least one host computer, and at least one storage system, the storage system includes a physical disk and a disk controller, and provides the host computer with a storage area of the physical disk as at least one logical unit, and the host computer includes at least one application program accessing the logical unit, and a storage area access control unit for, before the application program makes access to the logical unit, transmitting authentication information guaranteeing the application program as a source of the access to the storage system.

  • Publication number: 20100153947
Abstract: Provided is an information system including a server apparatus having a virtualization control unit which implements a virtual machine, and a storage apparatus having a virtual logical volume management unit which provides a virtual logical volume (VLU) configured by using a real logical volume (RLU). In the system, the VLU is allocated to each of the virtual machines implemented in the same server apparatus, the RLUs configuring the VLU for each virtual machine differ depending on the virtual machine, an identifier of the virtual machine is added to an I/O request of the virtual machine, the I/O request with the identifier is transmitted to the storage apparatus, and the RLU as a target in the I/O request is identified based on the identifier by the storage apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7610508
Abstract: Pairs are formed from a plurality of dispersed volumes and copying between the volumes is conducted by a series of remote operations from a management server. A management server 10 instructs the generation of configuration setting files 23, 30 to host computers 20, 30 selected so as to form copy pairs. If the configuration setting files are generated by host agents 21, 31, the management server 10 instructs copy start to a host computer 20 having a primary volume. The host agent 21 generates a prescribed command via a copy pair control module 22 and causes a storage subsystem 40 to execute copying between the volumes. When copying is completed, the management server 10 acquires the newest storage configuration information from the storage subsystem 40 and updates configuration information DB12.

  • Publication number: 20060085607
Abstract: Access right is changed in a manner that allows a storage system (3) connected to a network access to an existing storage system (2). A path is detected for a volume set in the existing storage system (2), and when a volume is found that has no path defined, a path accessible to the new storage system is set to the existing storage system (2). A volume of the existing storage system (2) is allocated to the new storage system (3). A path is defined in a manner that allows a host computer access to the existing storage system (2). Data of the existing storage system (2) is duplicated to the volume allocated to the new storage system (3).
