  • Publication number: 20110134115
Abstract: In one embodiment, a display device includes a display panel having pixels. A first image signal for displaying two-dimensional pictures, a second image signal for displaying three-dimensional pictures, and a third image signal for displaying a black picture are written into the pixels. A control circuit writes the third image signal to the pixel of the display panel during at least one frame period when switching a first mode for displaying the two-dimensional pictures and a second mode for displaying the three-dimensional pictures.

  • Publication number: 20110080535
Abstract: A liquid crystal shutter includes a first support substrate having a first electrode and a second support substrate having a second electrode opposite to the first electrode. A liquid crystal layer is sandwiched between the first and second electrodes so as to have a switching region. The switching region becomes a bend alignment state from a splay alignment state when a voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer. A nucleus region formation portion is arranged on the first support substrate to form a nucleus region in the switching region corresponding to the nucleus region formation portion in the liquid crystal layer, in which the splay alignment is more stable than in the switching region.

  • Publication number: 20100182555
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel which is configured to hold a liquid crystal layer between an array substrate and a counter-substrate. The array substrate includes a pixel electrode which is connected to a switching element, and a counter-electrode which is opposed to the pixel electrode via an interlayer insulation film. The pixel electrode includes a plurality of slits. The slit is formed in a substantially parallelogrammatic shape, and includes, at a corner portion with an acute interior angle, an arcuate recess portion which is recessed toward an outside of an edge.

  • Publication number: 20090237606
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device is configured such that a liquid crystal layer is held between an array first substrate and a counter-substrate. The array substrate includes a pixel electrode which is disposed in association with each of pixels in a display region which displays an image, and a counter-electrode which is opposed to the pixel electrode with a distance therebetween. The counter-substrate includes an insulating substrate, and a shield electrode which is disposed between the liquid crystal layer and the insulating substrate over an entirety of the display region. The liquid crystal layer is formed of a liquid crystal material having a negative dielectric constant anisotropy.

  • Publication number: 20090091696
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device, which is configured to have a liquid crystal layer held between a pair of substrates, includes a display area including a red color pixel, a green color pixel and a blue color pixel, a pixel electrode which is disposed in each of the color pixels, a counter-electrode which is opposed to the pixel electrode via an interlayer insulation film, and an alignment film which is disposed in contact with the liquid crystal layer and is subjected to such rubbing treatment as to restrict alignment of liquid crystal molecules included in the liquid crystal layer. The pixel electrode has a slit which is formed to be inclined with respect to a direction of rubbing of the alignment film, and the slit of the red pixel and the slit of the blue pixel are formed to be inclined in different directions.
