Publication number: 20080066986Abstract: A motorcycle includes a rear fork with a first and the second extending portions, and a cross portion, the cross section linking the first and the second extending portions together. The first extending portion extends toward a first side of a rear wheel, the second extending portion extends toward a second side of the rear wheel. The first extending portion, which has an open cross sectional structure and through which a drive shaft is passed, is made to have larger outer diameter than the second extending portion, which has a closed cross sectional structure. Nonetheless, the rigidity of the first extending portion and the second extending portion are approximately the same. The drive shaft extends rearwardly and passes through the opening on the inside of the first extending portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2007Publication date: March 20, 2008Inventors: Shinji Ito, Toshiyuki Iwai

Publication number: 20080066987Abstract: A motorcycle is provided with a rear fork attached to a body frame so as to swing up and down freely. A rear wheel is attached to the rear end portion of the rear fork, a gear case is attached to a side of the rear wheel, and a drive shaft is provided between the gear case and an output shaft of a power unit. The output of the power unit is transmitted to the rear wheel via the drive shaft and the gear case. In the motorcycle, the gear case is supported by a rear-wheel axle provided in the rear end portion of the rear fork. A torque rod, which links an outer periphery portion of the gear case with the rear fork, serves as a stopper for rotation of the gear case. The resulting configuration provides a shaft-drive system that reduces the assembling time of the torque rod, and improves the productivity of the main line.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2007Publication date: March 20, 2008Inventors: Shinji Ito, Toshiyuki Iwai, Toshihiko Ichikawa

Publication number: 20060202553Abstract: When a vehicle speed sensor is provided as a separate unit, the vehicle sensor should be removed when a vehicle wheel is changed. A brake caliper is fitted to an upper stay and a lower stay formed at a lower part of the front fork supporting the front wheel. The sensor stay is fitted to the inside of the lower stay in the vicinity of the brake caliper. A sensor cover is fastened integrally in an overlapping manner to the outside of the sensor stay. A projection formed on the sensor cover overlaps with a fitting bolt of the brake caliper. Thus, it is not possible to remove the brake caliper without first removing the sensor cover. Further, a vehicle speed sensor is sandwiched by the sensor stay and the lower end of the sensor cover and the three members are fastened together.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2006Publication date: September 14, 2006Inventors: Taisuke Nimura, Takashi Ashigai, Toshiyuki Iwai

Patent number: 6549902Abstract: An information processing device creates a dirty bit indicative of an update state for each combination of sharing bags between parties. A database processing section updates the dirty bit of a tip by monitoring any modification to the tip during a non-synchronous period. A synchronous process is carried out between two information processing devices, in which whether it is required to transfer the tip and transfer direction are decided after transfer of the dirty bit. Further, the dirty bit which relates to the synchronous process is updated and the update is transferred to the other dirty bit which corresponds to the tip. As a result, it is possible to reduce communication data volume and to find a coincidence in tips between three or more information processing devices, thereby realizing a database managing device which can reduce communication data volume in the synchronous process in a database system in which associating data can be independently updated by a plurality of devices.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2000Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Toshiyuki Iwai

Patent number: 6516912Abstract: To provide a power transmission mechanism into which a driven flange is assembled, the power transmission mechanism producing no metal contact noises. A driven flange is divided into an engine side flange and a wheel side flange. The engine side flange may be formed of a steel forging and the wheel side flange may be formed of an aluminum forging. The engine side flange is spline-fitted in a final gear integrally rotated with a bevel gear. Furthermore, openings are formed in the wheel side flange at equal intervals and blocks having a threaded hole therein are pressed into the openings. In addition, the engine side flange, the wheel side flange, and the blocks are integrally connected together with bolts.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 2001Date of Patent: February 11, 2003Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Toshiyuki Iwai, Shinji Ito

Patent number: 6493725Abstract: Information processing devices each creates a dirty bit indicative of the presence or absence of update per tip in a sharing region, and updates the dirty bit in accordance with an operation on the tip. A synchronize processing section compares dirty bits of corresponding tips in a synchronous process so as to judge whether the tips have been updated in the both parties. When there is an update in the both parties, a priority side is decided in accordance with a predetermined rule, for example, such as the promoting side of the synchronous process before transmitting the entire contents of the tips.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1999Date of Patent: December 10, 2002Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Toshiyuki Iwai, Kanji Nakagawa, Hidetoshi Takizawa, Kazushi Kamakura, Fusayuki Fujita

Patent number: 6488300Abstract: To provide a link type front suspension structure that makes it difficult for a bending moment to act on a push rod conveying expansion and contraction of a front fork to a shock absorber. An upper arm rotatably bridges between an upper end of a push rod and the front fork, and the length of this upper arm is equal to the length between a linking point of a lower end section of the push rod of the axle support arm and a linking point of the arm holder, and is substantially parallel with this length. As a result, a parallelogram link is formed by the front fork, the push rod, the upper arm and part of the axle support arm.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2001Date of Patent: December 3, 2002Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shinji Ito, Toshiyuki Iwai

Patent number: 6336647Abstract: A front wheel suspension in which a pin connects an upper link to a push rod. The push rod is also swingably connected to a front wheel supporting arm. The push rod is arranged such that the displacement gradient of the pin maintains a constant sign throughout a suspension stroke of the front wheel. This motion is accomplished by ensuring that an angle between an axis of a front fork and an axis connecting pivot points on the front wheel supporting arm is maintained at less than 90° throughout the suspension stroke.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1999Date of Patent: January 8, 2002Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Toshiyuki Iwai, Takanori Aika, Shinji Ito
