  • Publication number: 20120251800
Abstract: A touch panel glass substrate which can be manufactured simultaneously with other touch panel glass substrates, is free of microcracks in edges, and has predetermined strength, and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. An original glass plate as large as to cut out a plurality of glass substrates is prepared. Detection electrode traces and lead wiring traces on each glass substrate are simultaneously formed on the original glass plate. The original glass plate is then chemically etched to separate the touch panel glass substrates. The separation by chemical etching produces no microcracks in edges.

  • Patent number: 7814873
Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable valve operating device and a valve opening amount adjustment method, and can accurately control the amount of in-cylinder air and the strength of a swirl flow. The variable valve operating device according to the present invention includes a valve mechanism that can select a dual valve variable control mode in which the valve opening amounts of a first valve and a second valve, which are of the same type and provided for the same cylinder, can be varied continuously or in multiple steps. A valve opening amount difference is provided when the valve opening amounts are minimized in the dual valve variable control mode so that the valve opening amount of the first valve is larger than that of the second valve. In addition, adjustments are made so that the minimum valve opening amount of the first valve does not vary from one cylinder to another.

  • Publication number: 20100059006
Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable valve operating apparatus having a switching mechanism for switching between a dual valve variable control mode and a single valve variable control mode, and enhances the durability of the switching mechanism. In an idle state prevailing before a vehicle starts moving, the operating state of an internal combustion engine is in a single valve small lift region (point A). In this instance, the single valve variable control mode prevails. After the vehicle starts moving, the operating state changes from point A through point B to point C and switches to a dual valve great lift region. Subsequently, when an accelerator pedal is released with a clutch disengaged for upshifting, the operating state reverts to point A in the single valve small lift region. In the above situation, as the operating state remains in the dual valve great lift region for a short period of time, a switch to the dual valve variable control mode does not constitute a considerable advantage.

  • Patent number: 5142866
Abstract: A sequential turbocharger system for an internal combustion engine with an exhaust gas recirculation system. The sequential system includes a large-volume turbocharger and a small-volume turbocharger, which are arranged in series in the direction of the flow of gases. A bypass passageway is connected to an exhaust pipe to thereby bypass the turbine of the small-volume turbocharger, and an exhaust switching valve is arranged in the bypass passageway for controlling the flow of exhaust gas to the turbine of the small-volume turbocharger. The EGR system includes an exhaust gas recirculation passageway for introducing an amount of exhaust gas into the intake pipe of the engine. The exhaust gas for recirculation is taken out from the intake pipe at a position located between the turbines of the small-volume and large-volume turbochargers.

  • Patent number: 5063744
Abstract: In a sequential turbocharger system having a first stage large volume turbo-charger and a second stage small volume turbocharger, a diaphragm actuator is provided for an exhaust bypass valve bypassing a turbine of the small volume turbocharger. The diaphragm actuator has a two step characteristic in relation to an opening of the exhaust bypass valve, so that an increased speed of opening of the exhaust bypass valve is obtained when the pressure downstream of the compressor of the first turbocharger is equal to the pressure downstream of the compressor of the second turbocharger.
