  • Publication number: 20090066607
Abstract: A head-mounted device to be worn on a user's head includes a first pressing member to press, for example, an occipital region, a second pressing member to press, for example, a parietal region, and first and second linear members connected to the first and second pressing members respectively. The first and second linear members are guided so that a change in lengths of the first and second linear members causes the first and second pressing members to move in the first and second directions respectively. An adjustment unit to adjust the lengths of the first and second linear members includes first and second wind-up units connected to a rotational operation member and to wind up the first and second linear members respectively.

  • Publication number: 20070013611
Abstract: This specification discloses a mounting mechanism for a display portion onto the head in which the movement range of a wearer is not restricted and it becomes possible to make the display portion follow the head. This mounting mechanism has a head mounting portion for mounting the display portion on the head, a weight supporting portion mounted on any other body portion than the head for supporting part of the weight of the head mounting portion, and a connecting member for connecting the head mounting portion and the weight supporting portion together so that the head mounting portion may be movable following the movement of the head.

  • Patent number: 6125187
Abstract: Disclosed howling eliminating apparatus comprises frequency analyzing means 32 for detecting a frequency which causes howling, band eliminating means 20 for eliminating a band including the howling frequency detected by the frequency analyzing means, and controlling means 30 for controlling both the frequency analyzing means and the band eliminating means in their characteristics. The frequency analyzing means is controlled to divide input frequencies into a plurality of wide bands, detect howling status in each of the divided wide bands to isolate one wide band suspected to include the howling frequency. When the one wide band causing the howling is isolated, the frequency analyzing means divides the suspected wide band into a plurality of narrow bands, and detects the howling frequency in one of the narrow bands. The band eliminating means is controlled to eliminate the narrow band including the howling frequency. The apparatus thus shortens the time it takes to detect howling with a minimum of hardware.

  • Patent number: 4585681
Abstract: A frost damage proofed pile for installment in a frigid district where the pile is subjected to a freezing and frost heaving force, such as permanently or seasonally frozen soil terrain. A tubular sheath member is fitted over the pile surface and has a length longer than the thickness of an active or seasonally frozen soil layer of the terrain in which the pile is installed. At least a portion of said length of the pile is formed as an extensible section, and at least the lower end of said sheath member is secured to the pile at or below a position corresponding to the bottom region of said active or seasonally frozen soil layer. A fluid material is filled in a space defined between the pile and the sheath member. The frost heaving force caused to exist upon freezing of the active or seasonally frozen soil layer as well as negative friction caused to exist in summer are inhibited from affecting the pile due to sliding of the sheath member relative to the pile.
