  • Publication number: 20060227752
Abstract: When voice, video, and other communications requiring real-time processability are carried out using wireless packet communications in a wireless LAN etc., a technique is used, in which a plurality of packets are encapsulated in order to reduce the proportion occupied by the header relative to the entire frame. Because in the past packets were encapsulated without considering transmission rates used for data transmission between the base station and the terminals, all the packets had to be transmitted at the lowest transmission rate, which was inefficient. According to the present invention, not only are packets sorted based on whether they should be encapsulated or not, but, in addition, packets to be encapsulated are sorted according to the transmission rates, at which the terminals can communicate with the base station, and then encapsulated and transmitted at said transmission rates.

  • Patent number: 7116935
Abstract: A wireless network system and a network address assigning method are provided which are capable of reducing traffic occurring when an network address is assigned to each of communication units making up a tree-structure-type wireless network system. The wireless network system includes a radio-relay station, a radio-relay station connected to the radio-relay station and to another radio-relay station in a wireless manner. The radio-relay station preserves a plurality of network addresses to be assigned to these radio-relay stations, assigns a first network address belonging to the plurality of network addresses to one radio-relay station and an address pool making up the plurality of network addresses collectively to the other radio-relay station. The above radio-relay station preserves the address pool and assigns a second network address belonging to the address pool to a wireless terminal. The radio-relay station does not assign directly the network address to the wireless terminal.

  • Patent number: 6917606
Abstract: When a send packet from a slave station and a send packet from a relay station are simultaneously sent to other relay station, the collision of the send packets against each other is detected, and the backoff time of the collided packet is calculated based on the hop count recorded in a hop count recording field of the collided packet. Therefore, the backoff time is set so that the backoff time decreases with increasing the hop count. This increases the probability of resending of the packet without collision with other packet in the resending processing, and enables the packet having a larger hop count to be preferentially sent. By virtue of this construction, a priority data transfer method can be realized which, when collision of a packet against other packet has occurred, performs resend processing based on the priority level of the packet.

  • Patent number: 6885656
Abstract: In a network that roughly comprises a temporary master station and a plurality of slave stations and is an adhoc network, which can be immediately constructed in situ, and is a temporary master station interposition-type network in which a temporary master station is present, the temporary master station receives and judges an interference detection packet sent from the slave station. By virtue of this construction, an asynchronous interference avoiding method and an asynchronous interference avoiding system can be realized which can reliably avoid interference.

  • Publication number: 20040157585
Abstract: When an AAAh server in a home domain receives an authentication request message from an mobile IP terminal in a visited domain, the AAAh server transmits a secret key generated by a secret key generating unit to an AAAv server in the visited domain and to the mobile IP terminal. Consequently, an authority to authenticate the mobile IP terminal is assigned from the AAAh server in the home domain to the AAAv server in the visited domain. When the AAAv server receives an authentication request from the mobile IP terminal, the AAAv server directly performs the authentication without exchanging messages with the AAAh server.

  • Patent number: 6707470
Abstract: An information gathering apparatus includes a history memory unit, an assigning unit, a requiring unit, and an HTML obtaining unit. The history memory unit stores a plurality of specific URL (Uniform Resource Locator) data specified to be browsed, as a browsing history data. The assigning unit assigns priorities to the plurality of specific URL data based on the browsing history data. The requiring unit generates a request to obtain a HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) file of the specific URL data to which the highest-priority is assigned by the assigning unit. The HTML obtaining unit obtains the HTML file corresponding to the request from a WWW (World Wide Web) server in response to the request.

  • Publication number: 20040043766
Abstract: A preset data storing means 108 stores identification data of the user's own subscribed hot spot data and identification data of a hot spot dealer in roaming contract relation to the own hot spot dealer. A wireless communication means 107 obtains the electric field intensity of a channel as a subject of survey and identification data of a dealer.

  • Publication number: 20020165008
Abstract: Private data in an EEPROM (14) is erased in a data erasing procedure when pulling out an SIM card (2) from a mobile telephone (1). Before being erased, the private data is encrypted in an encryption procedure and it is transferred and recorded to an external memory (3). The private data encrypted and recorded to the external memory can be reused when the SIM card is used in another mobile telephone. Furthermore, it is possible to prevent the external memory from being left behind when the SIM card is pulled out by interfacing a lock mechanism of a card mounting section (16) with that of a memory mounting section (17).

  • Publication number: 20020157007
Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide an access-point user authentication system which can implement a safer authentication scheme with an interface easy to use for general users. When the user of an unauthenticated terminal sends a packet to a wireless network and a wireless communications section in the access point receives the packet, a controller checks with reference to an authentication result storage means whether access by the user is permitted and passes the IP packet to a wired communications section to transmit it to the wired network if access is permitted, but discards the received packet if access is not permitted. If the controller verifies that the packet from the terminal contains the HTTP GET method, CGI execution means generates an HTML document for entering a user ID and password and sends it to the terminal via the wireless communications section.

  • Patent number: 6434405
Abstract: A transmitting and receiving card selectively attached to a portable phone or an information terminal is provided, by which operations for transmitting and receiving data to and from the information terminal as a server can be automatically performed without connecting the portable phone and the information terminal via a cable and without monitoring the radio signal quality by the user. When the card is attached to the portable phone, the card selects a period during which the radio wave has a good condition and acts as the information terminal so as to retrieve information such as e-mail stored in a server via the portable phone, and to transmit information stored in advance in the card to such a server according to a request. When the card is attached to the information terminal, the card acts as a server so as to transmit and receive the information to and from the information terminal.

  • Publication number: 20020041584
Abstract: A method allowing effective avoid asynchronous interference that occurs in the area where different cells overlap is disclosed. In a TDMA system, a base station desirous of using a channel transmits an interference check signal at a slot corresponding to each of transmission and reception timings on the channel to check whether asynchronous interference occurs on the channel. A mobile station determines whether asynchronous interference occurs on the channel, based on a plurality of error packet reception results on the channel. When asynchronous interference occurs, the mobile station transmits an interference notification signal to the base station. The base station, when receiving an error packet or the interference notification signal, determines that asynchronous interference occurs, and selects another channel to avoid asynchronous interference.
