  • Patent number: 4679927
Abstract: An image forming apparatus for a photocopy machine. A document table holds the document to be copied. An image area designating panel on the document table designates the area of the document to be copied and generates electrical signals corresponding to the copy area when the panel is pressed. A memory stores the electrical signals generated by the panel and a plurality of light-emitting elements prevents the formation of the electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive body except for the indicated copy area, according to the electrical signals which are read from the memory.

  • Patent number: 4607945
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a document unit having a document table on which a document is placed and is reciprocated, a photoconductive drum, an exposure unit for exposing the photoconductive drum in order to form a latent image of a document placed on the document table on the photoconductive drum, a developing device for developing the latent image formed on the photoconductive drum into a toner image, a fusing unit for fixing the toner image to a paper sheet and a paper measuring device for measuring the size of the first copying paper sheet sequentially and continuously fed from a paper feeding unit, so that for the following paper sheets, a moving distance of the document unit is determined in correspondence with the measured paper size.

  • Patent number: 4595189
Abstract: The invention provides a paper feeder apparatus having first and second automatic paper feeder mechanisms and a manual paper feeder mechanism. The paper feeder apparatus performs automatic feed using the manual paper feeder mechanism and the first automatic paper feeder mechanism. The paper feeder apparatus also has the second paper feeder mechanism which is detachably mounted in the manual paper feeder mechanism. Furthermore, the paper feeder apparatus has a display unit. When the second automatic paper feeder mechanism is mounted in the copying machine, a display control circuit (microcomputer) controls to display a sign at the display unit to indicate which one of the first and second paper feeder mechanisms is selected. However, when the second automatic paper feeder mechanism is not mounted, the display control circuit controls the display unit so as not to display the sign which indicates the selected mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 4586808
Abstract: An optical system drive device for an image formation apparatus has a drive mechanism for reciprocally driving an exposure unit, and a pulse motor for supplying pulses to the drive mechanism. The pulses to be supplied to the pulse motor are stored in advance in a ROM. In accordance with either document size or required equal size, reduced scale or enlarged copying mode, a microprocessor reads out a predetermined control pulse from the ROM and applies it to the pulse motor, thereby controlling acceleration, constant velocity drive and deceleration of the pulse motor.
