  • Publication number: 20050057004
Abstract: This invention provides a rubber-coated stainless steel plate suitable as a gasket core material with excellent adhesion to the rubber layer, a method of manufacturing the same, and a gasket comprising the rubber-coated stainless steel plate. The following are provided by the present invention: a stainless steel plate having a roughened surface on which chrome hydroxide, chrome oxide, iron hydroxide, and iron oxide are deposited; a rubber-coated stainless steel plate formed by coating the surface of the stainless steel plate with a rubber layer; a gasket comprising the rubber-coated stainless steel plate; and a method of manufacturing the stainless steel plate, wherein the stainless steel plate is roughened with at least one of chemical roughening and electrochemical roughening and is then subjected to cathode electrolytic treatment in an alkaline solution.

  • Patent number: 4918042
Abstract: An exhaust gas purifying catalyst of this invention comprises a heat resistance stainless steel catalyst support, an oxide film containing zirconium oxide formed on the heat resistance stainless steel catalyst support, an activated alumina catalyst carrier layer formed on the oxide film, and at least one metal catalyst loaded in the activated alumina catalyst carrier layer. Thus, the activated alumina catalyst carrier layer's come-off from the catalyst support and the oxidation of the catalyst support are suppressed at the same time, and the conversions of the hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) are also improved.

  • Patent number: 4870046
Abstract: A rolled high Al stainless steel foil for use as a substrate for a catalyst carrier, which comprises more than 12 wt % up to 20 wt % of Al, from 5 to 25 wt % of Cr, from 0.05 to 2 wt %, in total, of at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti, Nb, Zr, and Hf, and the remainder substantially consisting of Fe and unavoidable elements. The stainless steel foil has an excellent resistance to oxidation in an engine exhaust gas at a temperature of 1150.degree. C. or higher, can be obtained by foil-rolling, and enables a reduction of the exhaust back-pressure and weight of automobile catalyst converters.

  • Patent number: 4867811
Abstract: A process for producing a metallic catalyst-carrier, comprising the steps of: preparing a steel sheet containing 9.0 to 25.0 wt % Cr and 0.01 to 6.0 wt % Al, plating the steel sheet with Ni at an amount of from 0.3 to 10.0 g/m.sup.2, then plating with Al or Al-alloy at a plated amount defined by the formula; ##EQU1## and with a provision that the thickness of an Al-Fe alloyed layer is controlled to a thickness of 10 .mu.m or less, cold rolling to a rolled thickness of 0.1 mm or less, working to a body of a required form, and heat-treating the body.

  • Patent number: 4752599
Abstract: In a carrier for a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas, a honeycomb is formed by coiling a corrugated sheet and a flat sheet together, and is mounted in an outer cylinder. An Al (alloy)-clad foil or hot-dip Al (alloy) galvanized foil is used to form the honeycomb, which is heat treated in a vacuum or a reducing atmosphere to simultaneously bond the corrugated sheet and flat sheet together and also bond the honeycomb to the outer cylinder, and to diffuse Al into the foil.

  • Patent number: 4253620
Abstract: There is provided a winding spring for a seat belt winding apparatus which comprises an output drum and a take-up drum. The winding spring is stretched in the S-shaped form between the output drum and take-up drum. In the normal use region of the entire length of the winding spring, the natural radius of curvature of the spring is gradually increased. In the surplus use region of the spring, the natural radius of curvature of the spring is divided into a part where it is gradually decreased and a part where it is kept constant. The natural radius of curvature in the free end portion of the winding spring is increased.
