    Abstract: Isoquinoline derivatives represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 denotes a hydrogen or halogen atom, or a nitro or acetyl group, and R.sub.2 denotes a hydrogen atom, or a methyl, methoxy, phenyl, 4-pyridyl or 2-pyridyl group, and therapeutically acceptable salts thereof have high cardiotonic activity and low toxicity.
