  • Publication number: 20110100509
Abstract: A guide device for cutting a through dovetail joint consisting of a tail board template and a pin board template, the templates being made of a relatively thin material. The tail board template has a series of cutouts in the shape of an isosceles trapezoid provided longitudinally therein, the narrowest portions or tops of the cutouts in parallel alignment with the top edge of the tail board template and the broadest portions or bottoms of the cutouts in alignment below the tops of the cutouts. The pin board template has a main body serving as a base or bottom of the template and a series of fingers in the general shape of an isosceles trapezoid, of generally the same size and shape of the isosceles trapezoidal cutouts in the tail board, protruding from the main body of the pin board template. The isosceles trapezoidal fingers are connected to the main body by relatively short rectangular connecting portions or bridges, forming a series of rectangular areas that are open topped between adjacent fingers.

  • Patent number: 6904689
Abstract: A guide device for cutting lap joints includes a frame and a rectilinear guide member, the frame having a Y-like shape and consisting of a removable top portion and a bottom portion forming a yoke therebetween at the upper portion of the Y-like frame. The lower portion of the Y-like frame has a guide portion and one side of the guide portion extends to be co-linear with one side of the yoke portion forming a first adjustable guide surface. The guide portion is provided with a guide way running longitudinally along the guide portion with a movable stopper provided so as to move along the guide surface as guided by the guide way. The movable stopper has a lockable member for locking the movable stopper in any desired position along said guide surface. The other side of the guide portion opposite to the guide surface forms an angle of 45 degrees with another contiguous side of the yoke portion and a fixed stopper is formed near the junction of the yoke portion and this other side of the guide portion.

  • Patent number: 6705810
Abstract: In a guide device for cutting a groove of this invention, a rectilinear guide member comprises a pair of guide members where the opening width between the guide members for an initial cut is set to be the same as the diameter of a router bit by inserting a pair of inserts between the guide members. A dado having a width that is the same as the thickness of a shelf board to be used is then formed by operating the router with a scrap piece of that board inserted between the guide members. A variety of inserts having various widths corresponding to popular router bit diameters may also be used.

  • Patent number: 5738470
Abstract: In a guide device for cutting a groove of this invention, a rectilinear guide member (10) comprises a pair of guide members (11, 12), where the opening width (W.sub.1, W.sub.2) of an opening (26) defined between the guide members (11, 12) is set to be the same as the diameter of a rotary bit of a router (22). A dado (2) having a width that is the same as the thickness of a board to be used as a shelf is formed by operating the router (22) with a scrap piece of that board (3a) inserted between the guide members (11, 12) to get an accurately cut dado.
