  • Patent number: 6526784
Abstract: The tip (26a) of a rear-end mount (26) that fastens the piezoelectric element (6) is tapered. The rearmost part (26b) of the rear-end mount (26) that fastens the piezoelectric element (6) is indented in a U shape. An eccentric pin (30), which extends in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the piezoelectric element (6), is fitted in this indentation. The rear-end mount (42), which fastens one end of the finger (8), is provided with a pin (46) that extends in the direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the piezoelectric element (6). This pin (46) is provided with a spiral groove (48) over practically its entire length.

  • Patent number: 5796588
Abstract: An electrical apparatus houses batteries mounted on a printed circuit board (PCB) via conducting tabs with cylindrical insertion sections. The cylindrical insertion sections fit into circular holes in the PCB or into cylindrical sockets soldered into PCB holes. Battery attachment can either be permanent by soldering tabs into the holes or removable by tab insertion into sockets. Removable attachment allows easy battery recovery for recycling. Utilizing the elasticity of sheet metal and cylindrical shaped tabs provides more secure battery attachment resulting in good shock and vibration resistance, and contact over a cylindrical surface insures good electrical connection.

  • Patent number: 5443925
Abstract: A nonaqueous electrolyte battery has a positive electrode, a negative electrode and separator laminate rolled into a spiral electrode unit contained in an external case filled with nonaqueous electrolyte. Battery voltage is between 3.5 V and 5.0 V when charged. A positive electrode supporting member material and the external case are both aluminum. The positive Electrode supporting member is exposed for at least a portion of the outermost winding of the spiral electrode unit, and this exposed supporting member contacts the inner surface of the external case to make an electrical connection.

  • Patent number: 4997731
Abstract: The present invention relates to a packed battery unifying a plurality of battery cells housed in a case. The case comprises a tubular body housing the battery cells and a couple of lids closing both the end openings of the tubular body respectively, thus being arranged in a three-unit construction. This arrangement allows the case to be completely sealed off by ultrasonic wave welding.

  • Patent number: 4783383
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sealed type battery provided with a safety valve and a method of manufacturing the same, the sealed type battery of the present invention has a mouth-sealing plate, provided with the safety valve, serving as a terminal of one polarity, being arranged through an insulating member in a hole of a metallic cover closing an opened portion of an exterior can serving as a terminal of the other polarity, and an extension of a hole edge of the metallic cover being cramped to the insulating member to fix said mouth-sealing plate, whereby the cramping diameter can be reduced in comparison with that of the conventional battery, and as a result, the high hermeticity can be given to the battery and the electrolyte can be completely prevented from leaking.

  • Patent number: 4709472
Abstract: In a method of manufacturing a spiral electrode assembly, a first electrode member of one polarity is covered with a separator, and the separator is extended forward beyond the leading end of the first electrode member to form an extension consisting of the separator only. This separator extension is inserted into a slot formed in a spool and is wound around the spool. After the separator extension has been wound by the length more than the length of the circumference of the spool, a second electrode member of opposite polarity is inserted in such a relation that the leading end of the first electrode member is located rear relative to that of the second electrode member. The spool is rotated to wind the two electrode members separated by the separator therearound, and the spool is then withdrawn to provide the spiral electrode assembly.
