Patent number: 9505338Abstract: There is provided a vehicle driving environment recognition apparatus. When an onboard camera does not recognize a vehicle ahead during when a vehicle runs at night, an exposure amount of the onboard camera is set to a first exposure amount mode. When the vehicle ahead is not recognized, or only a light source of an oncoming vehicle is recognized, the exposure amount of the onboard camera is set to a second exposure amount mode. In the first exposure amount mode, a low-luminance detection exposure amount and a high-luminance detection exposure amount are alternately switched for each frame, and an image is captured with the switched exposure amount. In the second exposure amount mode, the exposure amount is fixed to the low-luminance detection exposure amount.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2013Date of Patent: November 29, 2016Assignee: FUJI JUKOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHAInventor: Toyokazu Ogasawara

Patent number: 8749733Abstract: A liquid crystal display device, without light leakage in a black display mode, is provided. The liquid crystal display (LCD) device includes a LCD panel, a light source, and an optical filter between the LCD and the light source. When the LCD panel is in the black display mode without the optical filter, leakage light leaking from the LCD panel in an oblique direction shows a hue having a local minimum value in a wavelength range from 450 nm to 550 nm. Normal incident light entering into the LCD in a normal direction shows a hue same as that of light just emitted from the light source, and oblique incident light entering into the LCD panel in an oblique direction shows a hue having a local maximum value in a wavelength range from 400 nm to less than 550 nm.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2010Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Tsuyoshi Maeda, Toyokazu Ogasawara

Patent number: 8224564Abstract: A control unit sets a current total risk function for each of white lines, guardrails, side walls, and three-dimensional objects existing around a vehicle, estimates a temporal change in the position of each object, and calculates a minimum of the total risk function at the vehicle position for each time. An objective function is generated for the time, and a turning control amount that minimizes the objective function at the time is calculated as a turning control amount of the vehicle. Risk functions provided when the vehicle moves by the turning control amount are set for respective routes. A final avoidance route is selected from the risk functions of the routes, and steering and braking are controlled.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2008Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: Fuji Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Toyokazu Ogasawara, Yuichiro Tsukasaki

Patent number: 8160300Abstract: A first pedestrian judging unit judges, on the basis of the size and motion state of a target three-dimensional object, whether the object is a pedestrian. A second pedestrian judging unit judges, on the basis of shape data on the object, whether the object is a pedestrian. A pedestrian judging unit finally determines that the object is a pedestrian when both the first and second pedestrian judging units judge the object as a pedestrian, when the second pedestrian judging unit judges the object as a pedestrian, when the first pedestrian judging unit judges the object as a pedestrian and a result of this judgment is held for a preset period, or when the first pedestrian judging unit judges the object as a pedestrian in a current judgment operation and the second pedestrian judging unit judged the object as a pedestrian in the previous judging operation.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2008Date of Patent: April 17, 2012Assignee: Fuji Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Toyokazu Ogasawara
