    Abstract: A belt cleaner for a belt conveyor comprising a vertical blade member having at its upper end a scraper blade to be pressed against the lower surface of the belt at the starting end of a return path of travel of the belt, a device for holding the blade member upwardly and downwardly movably, and a device for applying pressure to the blade member held by the holding device. The pressure applying device has a hollow elastic body, and a device for supplying a pressure fluid to the interior of the elastic body under variable pressure.
