Abstract: A personal care article including a thermoplastic magnetic member. The thermoplastic magnetic member is formed of a thermoplastic material with magnetic particles dispersed therethrough. The thermoplastic material comprises a resin selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, thermoplastic elastomers, polyamides, polyacetals, polyethers, polyesters, polyurethanes, poly(meth)acrylates, and compatible mixtures thereof. The magnetic particles are selected from the group consisting of magnetoplumbite-structure ferrite particles, rare-earth magnet particles, and mixtures thereof. The thermoplastic material may be disposed on a surface of a fibrous substrate. A surface of the thermoplastic magnetic member may be profiled. A second thermoplastic magnetic member may have an opposite magnetic polarity and a complementary surface profile such that the two thermoplastic magnetic members may be magnetically joined and mechanically interlocked when in a mated configuration.

Abstract: A tab and slot closure system has a tab member, a slot member, and an anti-pop open device. The tab member has a tab element which has a first region and a second region. The first region includes a proximal edge, and the second region includes a distal edge. The tab element is attached to the substrate element along a line of attachment. The slot member has an inboard portion, an outboard portion, and a slot disposed between the inboard portion and the outboard portion. The anti-pop open device is disposed on either the tab member or the slot member and reduces the likelihood of the tab member unintentionally disengaging the slot member when the tab and slot closure system is fastened.

Abstract: A strong, easy to use tab and slot fastening device suitable for use with disposable absorbent articles. The fastening device preferably includes a tab member and a slot member. The slot member has an inboard portion, an outboard portion and a slot. The inboard portion located laterally inboard of the outboard portion and the slot located between the inboard portion and the outboard portion. The tab member has a length, a proximal edge, a distal edge and a lip portion. The tab portion is passed through the slot of the slot member to engage the fastening device. Once passed through the slot, at least the lip portion of the tab member pivots such that it overlaps the outboard portion of the slot member to prevent the tab member from disengaging from the slot member.

Abstract: An absorbent article which includes a thermal cell actuator capable of adding or removing heat to or from at least a portion of the absorbent article to perform a useful function on the article. The thermal cell actuator may be activated by an action of the wearer or caregiver or by environmental conditions between the article and wearer.

Abstract: A strong, easy to use high flexibility, low deformation in plane engagement fastening device suitable for use with articles. The fastening device provides a preferred combination of fastenability, flexibility, load bearing, and minimal deformation. The in plane engagement fastening device simplifies and facilitates proper fastener alignment during the fastening process. The fastening device may a projectile and a receptacle. The projectile is passed into or through the receptacle to engage the fastening device.

The thermal cell actuator may be activated by an action of the wearer or caregiver or by environmental conditions between the article and wearer.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent article, such as a baby diaper, a child's training pant, an adult incontinent garment, or the like, having an elasticized chassis which provides laterally oriented contractive forces about the lower torso of the wearer. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the absorbent article will resemble a skirt or, alternatively, a pair of "boxer shorts".
