  • Patent number: 8093315
Abstract: A method of improving the wear resistance of a polymer is disclosed comprising the steps of evenly dispersing an ultrafine inorganic particulate material in the polymer at a loading rate of 0.01 to 20 wt % of the total weight of the particulate polymer composite. The mixing or dispersing is preferably carried out under sub-atmospheric pressure conditions to ensure little or no bubbles form in the mixture prior to curing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 10, 2003
Date of Patent: January 10, 2012
Assignee: Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation
Inventors: Daniel Bell, Phil Casey, Yesim Gozukara, Anita Hill, James Mardel, Tracey Markley, Pavla Meakin, Chull Hee Oh, Terry Turney

  • Publication number: 20030154822
Abstract: A process for leaching precious metals from material containing precious metals, such as oxidic and sulfidic gold-bearing ores, is disclosed. The process includes the steps of: (i) leaching the precious metal with a leach solution containing a thiosulfate-based lixiviant; (ii) treating the material by oxidising precious metal in the material into a form that is leachable in a subsequent leaching step; and thereafter as a separate step.
