Patent number: 8015507Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) for a remote operated vehicle (ROV) with an onboard video camera with pan-and-tilt mechanism. A broad translucent compass bearing icon is arranged horizontally with scrolling compass bearing marks that give the user visual feedback for steering the ROV as well as hard information relating to the bearing. A long translucent depth icon is arranged vertically with depth reading marks that scroll up and down as the ROV moves down and up respectively. A pan-and-tilt icon at the top center of the screen gives user feedback as to the direction in which the ROV camera is pointing relative to the ROV. Status indicator icons and the other icons are inserted and removed by special burn-in and fade-out processes to provide good visibility at the same time as continuity of viewing.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2001Date of Patent: September 6, 2011Assignee: H2Eye (International) LimitedInventors: Steve Madsen, Tracy Currer, Graham Michael Pullin

Patent number: 7246567Abstract: An ROV comprising a topside, a fish and an umbilical cable for connecting the topside and the fish together. The fish is adapted to be powered by an onboard battery inductively coupled to the fish. The cable is of a fine diameter to reduce drag through the water. RF transmissions carry control and return signals to and from the fish and topside. The fish has two cameras. The front facing camera is located behind a dual layer flooded dome. A pan and tilt mechanism is fitted to one of the cameras and uses a pivotable gimbal frame driven by a lead nut moving along an arcuate bolt.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2005Date of Patent: July 24, 2007Assignee: H2EYE (International) LimitedInventors: Chris D. Shelton, Nigel Mark Jagger, Shaun David Househam, Lawrence Samuel Tyson, Jeremy Daniel Cooper, Michael William Dormer, Jan Matteo Paoli, Nicholas Ian Kempt, Mark Sanders, Graham Michael Pullin, Jaime Valls Miro, Frances Samalionis, Paul South, Tracy Currer, Steve O'Connor, Martin Bontoft
