Abstract: The disclosure provides compositions for moistening an oral mucous membrane of a patient in need thereof, comprising propylene glycol and a flavoring agent. Devices comprising the compositions described herein also are provided. The disclosure also provides methods for moistening an oral mucous membrane of a patient in need thereof, methods for stimulating the appetite of a patient in need thereof, and methods for improving a disposition of a patient unable to swallow food or excess liquid using the compositions or devices described herein.
