Abstract: In one embodiment this, invention relates to preparing non-conducting polymer-based partially-open, hollow reservoirs (POHR) in the nano-size to micro-size range that encapsulate an additive, which can be released from the reservoirs. This invention also relates to methods of preparing such POHR, and for releasing the additive. This invention further relates to matrix that comprises such reservoirs and the method of preparing such matrix. This invention also relates to applications, for example in bio-active mitigation or enhancement, corrosion inhibition, lubrication, and adhesion, that benefit from using such release of a functional additive (FA).

Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing and using digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) structured reporting (SR) object consolidation. The consolidation process may be applied to a plurality of objects generated based on a same medical imaging data. The consolidation process includes assessing each object of the plurality of objects, with the assessing including determining whether the object is a parent of another object in the plurality of objects, and discarding the object when it is a parent of another object. A composite object is then generated based on the plurality of objects, with the generating including, when only one object remains after the assessing, copying that object into the consolidated object; otherwise when a plurality of remaining objects remains after the assessing, processing the remaining objects, in sequence from newest to oldest, with the processing including, for copying each data element in each remaining object into the composite object.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for monitoring and assessing an employee's skills and qualifications. Qualification criteria for each job junction within an organization or industry can be grouped into qualification categories. These qualification categories can include Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) Management system knowledge, Technical Training, Online Awareness Training, Standard Operating Procedure Assessments, and Accountabilities and Skills. This information can be captured and recorded in a database in near real time allowing an employer to monitor the competencies of each employee and track and correct any deficiencies, should they exist.

Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a mobile device configured to instruct and direct a patient within a medical care facility. The medical device may include a main housing configured to be conveyed by the patient within the medical care facility, a display positioned on the main housing, a tracking device configured to be tracked by a patient information system, a processor in communication with the display, and a transceiver allowing bi-directional communication between the mobile device and the patient information system. The transceiver may be configured to receive patient-specific directions and instructions regarding a medical care event that are transmitted from the patient information system. The processor is operable to show the patient-specific directions and instructions on the display.
