  • Publication number: 20180364371
Abstract: Calibration systems and methods are described. According to one aspect, a calibration system includes a light source configured to emit light, and drive circuitry coupled with the light source, and wherein the drive circuitry is configured to apply a drive signal to the light source to cause the emission of the light from the light source which corresponds to a light emission from a scintillator resulting from exposure of the scintillator to a radioactive source.

  • Publication number: 20160050857
Abstract: Described is a plant pot system that can house plant growing media or soil designed for multistage growth of plants. The plant pot system includes a pot with a divider slot in the sidewall and a divider which is removably insertable into the divider slot of the pot. When the divider is inserted into the divider slot of the pot, the pot is divided into an upper section, which provides a smaller space for a young plant to establish healthy roots, and a lower section. Once the plant has reached an appropriate stage of development, the divider can be removed from the pot, allowing the plant to utilize the remaining growth media in the lower section for the next stages of growth and maturity. This eliminates the need for transplanting the plant into a different, larger container for next stages of growth.

  • Patent number: 8761153
Abstract: An Internet Access Device (IAD) is pre-configured with first, generic configuration information designating the address of a configuration server with which it will establish a communication session when the IAD is first powered up and connected to the Internet. The configuration server then downloads a second, specific configuration to the IAD, such as a hotline number designating a specific speech server, and creates a network data record to link a unique identifier for the IAD, such as a serial number, with a user account. When the IAD goes off-hook, the IAD connects directly to a speech server using the second configuration. The speech server provides a smart dial tone, such as a voice prompt. The speech server responds to a verbal request spoken by a user by performing a corresponding activity, such as placing a telephone call or providing voicemail access.

  • Patent number: 8472988
Abstract: The invention is apparatus for communicating between a subscriber and a second party in a 2-way texting system. The apparatus includes a hosted application system, having a host application server, storage, communication apparatus and a hosted application. A subscriber's 2-way communication device is coupled to the communication apparatus and assigned a unique designator. The hosted application system is coupled to receive a message and designated recipient from a message originator's 2-way communication device. The message originator is one of the subscriber and the second party, and the recipient is the other of the subscriber and the second party. The hosted application converts the message to a designated format and delivers the message using the unique designator, to the recipient's 2-way communication device. The message can be responded to by the recipient using the unique designator.

  • Patent number: 6922817
Abstract: A system and method for implementing logic changes in integrated circuits (ICs). In a preferred embodiment, donor logic elements are taken from donator logic paths. The donated cells are implemented into a logic path altered by an ECO. The donated cell is replaced by spare cells. Timing analysis is done to ensure all logic paths are timing closed.

  • Patent number: 6119084
Abstract: A useful, novel, and nonobvious speech verification apparatus, method and media incorporating the same, as well as a secure interactive voice response ("IVR") system. The speaker verification apparatus and method involves a determination whether one or more speech samples captured from a speaker substantially matches a speaker template in a registration database. If no substantial match is found, alternate access control is utilized to allow the speaker to verify herself, without the use of speaker verification techniques. If alternative access control is able to verify the speaker, the captured speech samples are used to modify the corresponding speaker template. The so-modified speaker template may account for acoustic idiosyncrasies or anomalies perceived in the speech samples to improve verification rates in subsequent acoustic attempts.
