Patent number: 9263048Abstract: The subject matter of this specification can be implemented in, among other things, a computer-implemented method for correcting words in transcribed text including receiving speech audio data from a microphone. The method further includes sending the speech audio data to a transcription system. The method further includes receiving a word lattice transcribed from the speech audio data by the transcription system. The method further includes presenting one or more transcribed words from the word lattice. The method further includes receiving a user selection of at least one of the presented transcribed words. The method further includes presenting one or more alternate words from the word lattice for the selected transcribed word. The method further includes receiving a user selection of at least one of the alternate words. The method further includes replacing the selected transcribed word in the presented transcribed words with the selected alternate word.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2015Date of Patent: February 16, 2016Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Michael J. LeBeau, William J. Byrne, John Nicholas Jitkoff, Brandon M. Ballinger, Trausti T. Kristjansson

Patent number: 8682659Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for enhancing speech recognition accuracy. In one aspect, a method includes receiving an audio signal that corresponds to an utterance recorded by a mobile device, determining a geographic location associated with the mobile device, identifying a set of geotagged audio signals that correspond to environmental audio associated with the geographic location, weighting each geotagged audio signal of the set of geotagged audio signals based on metadata associated with the respective geotagged audio signal, and using the set of weighted geotagged audio signals to perform noise compensation on the audio signal that corresponds to the utterance.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2013Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Trausti T. Kristjansson, Matthew I. Lloyd

Patent number: 8666740Abstract: An audio signal generated by a device based on audio input from a user may be received. The audio signal may include at least a user audio portion that corresponds to one or more user utterances recorded by the device. A user speech model associated with the user may be accessed and a determination may be made background audio in the audio signal is below a defined threshold. In response to determining that the background audio in the audio signal is below the defined threshold, the accessed user speech model may be adapted based on the audio signal to generate an adapted user speech model that models speech characteristics of the user. Noise compensation may be performed on the received audio signal using the adapted user speech model to generate a filtered audio signal with reduced background audio compared to the received audio signal.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2012Date of Patent: March 4, 2014Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Matthew I. Lloyd, Trausti T. Kristjansson

Patent number: 7426496Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate assisting a user in filling forms. The invention can parse untagged media, such as email, etc., to identify elements that can be employed to populate a form. Identified elements can be automatically inserted into corresponding fields in a form, and status indicators can be associated therewith and indicated to a user in order to alert the user that review of a particular field in the form is warranted. Additionally, the untagged media and the form can be concurrently presented to the user to facilitate user supervision and/or interaction during assisted form filling.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2004Date of Patent: September 16, 2008Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventor: Trausti T. Patent number: 7305129Abstract: A computer-implemented method and apparatus are provided for populating an electronic form from an electronic image. The method and apparatus identify a size, orientation and position of an object within the electronic image, and identify information elements from pixels within the image that correspond to the object. Fields of the electronic form are displayed to a user along with the identified information elements through a graphical user interface. The information elements are parsed into tagged groups of different information types. At least some of the fields of the electronic form are populated with the tagged groups to produce a populated form. The user is allowed to edit the populated fields through the graphical user interface.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2004Date of Patent: December 4, 2007Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Kumar H. Chellapilla, Cormac E. Herley, Trausti T. Kristjansson, Paul A. Viola
