  • Patent number: 8881016
Abstract: A digital device comprises data processing unit displaying a graphic user interface (GUI) and an initial setup module. The initial setup module includes autodetection module, contextual help module, and advertisement module. The autodetection module automatically detects at least one of a network, a television cable, and a plurality of inputs connected to the digital device, and populates a connections list in a second panel including the result of the automatic detection. The contextual help module displays at least one of texts, images and animations in a first panel that help the user understand the steps of the initial setup. The advertisement module displays advertisements in the first panel when the digital device is loading. The digital device may be loading at least when the autodetection module is automatically detecting or when the contextual help module is loading the at least one of texts, images and animations to be displayed.

  • Publication number: 20130260360
Abstract: Some embodiments provide methods for use in providing information. These methods comprise: capturing, with one or more cameras of a display device, video along a first direction; detecting an object of interest that is captured in the video; obtaining additional information corresponding to the object of interest; determining an orientation of a user relative to a display of the display device, where the display is oriented opposite to the first direction; determining portions of each of the video images to be displayed based on the determined orientation of the user such that the portions of the video images are configured to appear to the user as though the display device were not positioned between the user and the object of interest; and displaying the portions of video images as they are captured and simultaneously displaying the additional information in cooperation with the object of interest.

  • Patent number: 8456575
Abstract: An audio video display device (AVDD) includes a processor and a touch screen video display. The AVDD also includes a computer readable storage medium bearing instructions executable by the processor to present at least one image of a remote control (RC) on the display. Accordingly, responsive to a first user command, the processor presents an image of a full RC on the display. Responsive to a second user command, the processor presents an image of a direction-only RC on the display that permits a user only to enter direction commands and an “enter” command.
