Patent number: 12246412Abstract: A removal tool is provided. The removal tool includes a wrench apparatus having a body having a handle, wherein a portion of the body is structured to engage a securing member. The removal tool also includes a locking tool assembly and a transfer assembly. The locking tool assembly has a first jaw, a second jaw coupled to the first jaw, and a handle extending from the first jaw, the first and second jaws being structured to engage a conduit. The conduit is coupled to the securing member. The transfer assembly is coupled to the handles of the wrench apparatus and the locking tool assembly in order to transfer a force therebetween, thereby allowing the securing member to be removed from the conduit.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2021Date of Patent: March 11, 2025Assignees: JS Products, Inc., GTI EnergyInventors: Chungeng Chen, Travis Cottle, Frank Hennessey, Joseph Irwin, Jim McNelis

Patent number: 12140237Abstract: A device and method for shutting off fluid-flow in a pipe. The device includes a moveable sealing member inside a pipeline, a longitudinal spring configured to bias against the sealing member in a first direction, and a lateral spring at an angle to the longitudinal spring wherein the lateral spring is configured to bias against the sealing member in a second direction. The device includes a housing with a passage configured to be positioned inline with a pipeline, and a sealing seat. A locking element is biased against the sealing member using the lateral spring to maintain an open position with the sealing member off of the sealing seat. The locking element is configured to move from the sealing member upon a fluid overpressure in the passage, whereby the sealing member extends into the seal seat to close off the pipeline upon the overpressure.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2021Date of Patent: November 12, 2024Assignee: GAS TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTEInventors: Travis Cottle, Francis X. Patent number: 11994248Abstract: A seal clamp, such as for gas lines, includes a handle assembly having a handle, a transfer or drive assembly cooperable with the handle, and a clamping assembly including first and second claws or clamps and a seal member. The first and second claws or clamps are cooperable with the transfer assembly. The seal member is structured to seal a puncture in a gas line. Responsive to movement of the handle, the first and second claws or clamps move from an OPEN position to a CLOSED position, such as to engage a pipe and create a clamping force which forces the seal member into engagement with the pipe, such as a puncture, to seal the pipe.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2021Date of Patent: May 28, 2024Assignees: JS Products, Inc., GTI EnergyInventors: Chungeng Chen, Travis Cottle, Jeff Mainzer

Patent number: 11774027Abstract: A device and method for sealing a leak in a pipe. The device includes a sealing component that is placed against a pipe outer surface and over the leak. A clamp extending from the sealing component clamps partially around a circumference of the pipe and pulls the sealing component against the pipe. A vent in combination with the sealing member releases leaking gas through or around the sealing component while the sealing component is being secured to the pipe. The vent is then closed after full clamping is completed.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2021Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Assignee: GAS TECHNOLOGY INSTITUTEInventors: Travis Cottle, Jeffrey Mainzer

Patent number: 10767803Abstract: A safety plug for a pipe formed of two engageable plug halves each having a mateable face to seal together around a cable. An outer surface includes a plurality of steps corresponding with different pipe sizes for engagement within the pipe. The outer surface is threaded or includes a locking mechanism which moves a portion of the two engageable plug halves into physical engagement with threads of the pipe. The locking mechanism can include locking pins at each of the outer steps, and which are extended outward by a manual push button upon the plug being placed in a pipe.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2018Date of Patent: September 8, 2020Assignee: OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT, NFPInventors: Jeff Mainzer, Travis Cottle
