Abstract: A sports shaft having an elongated body having a perimeter defined by a plurality of main walls with adjacent ones of the main walls being interconnected through a corresponding one of a plurality of edge walls, the edge walls being spaced apart around the perimeter. A respective bumper extends along at least part of length of at least one of the edge walls. The main and edge walls without the respective bumper have a first stiffness along a longitudinal direction of the shaft, and a combination of the respective bumper with the at least one of the edge walls has a stiffness along the longitudinal direction greater than the first stiffness. A method of making a sports shaft is also discussed.

Abstract: A method for the managing access to a software resource is disclosed. The method may include receiving, from a particular consumer, a request for a number of permits corresponding to units of a software resource. The numbers of permits may be compared to a total number of available permits. In response to determining that the number of permits is greater than the total number of available permits, rejecting the request in response to determining the number of permits requested is within a threshold value of permits requested by another consumer who has requested the largest number of permits in a preceding time period.

A dampening element is disposed over the shaft along at least a partial length of the second end thereof, the dampening element being made of a vibration-dampening material.
