Abstract: Methods and valve arrangements for controlling the flow of pressurized air from a tractor to a trailer reservoir and to a trailer spring brake chamber. In one exemplary embodiment, pressurized air from a tractor is supplied from a tractor to the trailer reservoir and to the trailer spring brake in different filling modes based on a user input. In another exemplary embodiment, pressurized service air is used to charge or partially charge the trailer reservoir.

Abstract: A valve for use in a pneumatic system of a truck-trailer having a source of air under pressure, a reservoir, at least one spring brake unit and a brake service line is provided. The valve includes a housing, a pressure protection valve portion, a spring brake actuation valve portion and an anti-compounding valve portion. The housing has a supply passage in communication with the source of air under pressure. The pressure protection valve portion is disposed within a first chamber of the housing. The first chamber has an inlet in communication with the supply passage and an outlet in communication with the reservoir. The pressure protection valve portion is configured to selectively block the flow of pressurized air from the supply passage to the reservoir through the first chamber. The spring brake actuation valve portion is disposed within a second chamber of the housing.

This control valve includes: a first or top body portion, a second or bottom body portion, and a connector for attaching the first body portion to the second body portion. The first body portion may include an actuator or handle having either a linear translation a rotational translation, and the second body portion may include either horizontal or vertical port configurations. The connector cooperates with the first body portion and the second body portion to provide complete 360° lateral rotation of the body portions relative to one another.

Abstract: A locking control valve is provided. This control valve includes a valve body that further includes a first locking member, and a handle attached to the valve body. The handle is moveable between a first position and a second position for controlling the operation of the valve and further includes a second locking member. The first locking member and the second locking member cooperate with one another to retain the handle in the second position when so desired by the operator of the vehicle.

Abstract: A variety of drive release assemblies are disclosed which are particularly well suited for use in conjunction with vehicular air compressors used to drive auxiliary components. The drive release assemblies utilize torque resisting surfaces to engage drive components, but which also serve to disengage the components upon application of excessive torque. Use of the drive release assemblies avoids damage that may otherwise occur to an engine or drive assembly upon torque overload.
