Patent number: 10233577Abstract: A resilient band for an article of apparel, formed with a first fabric secured to another more resilient fabric. The first and second fabrics are secured together by a plurality of fastening structures extending transversely to a longitudinal length of the resilient band. The first fabric presents a plurality of pleats, where a pleat in the plurality of pleats is defined by an adjacent pair of fastening structures in the plurality of fastening structures.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2017Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: NIKE, Inc.Inventors: Nathan Demarest, Travis Harvey

Patent number: 9738999Abstract: A method of forming a resilient band for an article of apparel includes stretching a first fabric having a first resiliency to a first stretched position and stretching a second fabric having a second resiliency to a second stretched position. The second resiliency is greater than the first resiliency. The method further includes securing the first fabric to the second fabric while the first fabric is in the first stretched position and while the second fabric is in the second stretched position. Moreover, the method includes releasing the first fabric from the first stretched position and the second fabric from the second stretched position after securing the first fabric to the second fabric.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2013Date of Patent: August 22, 2017Assignee: NIKE, Inc.Inventors: Nate Demarest, Travis Harvey

Patent number: 8555419Abstract: A resilient band for use with articles of apparel, the band is formed with a first fabric operably secured to a strip of more resilient material that is preferably a second fabric such as powermesh or the like. The band is formed by stretching the first fabric and resilient material into a stretched position and operably securing the two materials together with a fastening structure. Preferably, the fastening structure is a plurality of spaced-apart stitching line that are parrellely aligned with each other and substantially perpendicularly aligned with the longitudinal length of the band.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2009Date of Patent: October 15, 2013Assignee: NIKE, Inc.Inventors: Nate Demarest, Travis Harvey

Patent number: 7874326Abstract: An improved multipurpose funnel system for filling a container which prevents overflow during filling is self venting and is capable of filling hard to reach container locations. The system has a funnel removably coupled to a bottle cartridge which holds bottles therein. A pair of parallel rods hingedly connected to the bottle cartridge and having at least one hollow cone shaped spike extending outwardly therefrom. The funnel has a downspout having venting tubes, an elongated tip and a ball and socket mechanism. The elongated tip includes a check valve having an inside sleeve having an opening, and a spring. The inside sleeve extends outwardly and inwardly from the elongated tip, which opens and closes the opening. The elongated tip has an exterior lip extending outwardly therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2007Date of Patent: January 25, 2011Inventor: Travis Harvey

Patent number: 5854080Abstract: A process and apparatus for separating tritium from an aqueous solution that contains one or more additional dissolved radionuclides is disclosed. In accordance with the process the aqueous solution as a first liquid phase is contacted with each of three layers as a solid phase within a column. A first layer comprises particles having a plurality of pendent methylene diphosphonate groups. A second layer comprises strongly basic anion exchange particles, and a third layer comprises polymer particles free of ionically charged groups. The contact is maintained until a second liquid phase is formed that contains tritium as substantially the only radionuclide, and that second liquid phase is collected and can then be counted to determine the amount of tritium present. The column with its three layers constitutes the separation apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1997Date of Patent: December 29, 1998Assignee: Eichrom Industries, Inc.Inventor: James Travis Harvey
