  • Publication number: 20200116370
Abstract: A thermostat assembly includes a thermostat and a trim ring. The thermostat includes a user interface, a thermostat housing having a front portion with a front portion side wall and a back portion with a back portion side wall, the back portion side wall being offset from the front portion side wall, and a controller disposed within the thermostat housing and operably coupled to the user interface, the controller configured to accept input from a user via the user interface and provide one or more control signals to control the HVAC system. The trim ring includes an outer surface that transitions from a larger back side profile to a smaller front side profile. A front side of the trim ring includes a thermostat recess that is configured to receive at least part of the back portion of the thermostat.

  • Publication number: 20200119942
Abstract: A wireless occupancy sensor that is configured to be deployed within a building space includes a sensor body, an occupancy sensor that is housed by the sensor body, a light emitting diode (LED) that is housed by the sensor body, a wireless transceiver that is housed by the sensor body and is configured to be in wireless communication with a remote device. A controller is housed by the sensor body and is operably coupled to the occupancy sensor, the LED and the wireless transceiver and is configured to receive via the wireless transceiver a request to illuminate the LED from the remote device and in response to receiving the request, illuminate the LED in order to help visually identify the wireless occupancy sensor in the building space.

  • Patent number: 10490955
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing having contact channels with electrical contacts received therein each having a poke-in spring beam configured to engage an electrical wire when poked-in to the housing. The electrical contact is movable between a resting position when no wire is present in the wire channel and a clearance position where the electrical contact allows the electrical wire to be removed from the wire channel. Pivot levers are held by the housing and are coupled to corresponding electrical contacts with a pivot end pivotably coupled to the housing and a push button end having a push button pressed to move the corresponding electrical contact to the clearance position. When the electrical wire is loaded into the wire channel, the electrical contact is positioned in a pinching position in which the spring beam pinches against the electrical wire in physical contact with the electrical wire.

  • Patent number: 10054326
Abstract: A wall mountable connector may be secured to a wall in order to provide mechanical and electrical connections to a thermostat. In some cases, the wall mountable connector and the thermostat may, in combination, be configured to permit the thermostat to attach to the wall mountable connector only when the thermostat is in a particular orientation relative to the wall mountable connector. In some cases, the wall mountable connector includes a plurality of pin terminals that are configured to accommodate a plurality of pins extending from the thermostat. The interaction between the pins and the pin terminals may provide a lock and key arrangement between the wall mountable connector and the thermostat.

  • Patent number: 10024568
Abstract: Lock boxes may be used to protect a building controller from tampering. In some cases, a lock box may include a back plate that is configured to be mounted to a wall or a junction box and a front cover that may be secured to the back plate and locked in place. In some cases, the back plate may be configured to help secure a building controller thereto. In some cases, the back plate may be configured to secure a wall mountable connector to which the building controller may be secured. In some instances, the back plate may include mounting features that can engage corresponding mounting features of the wall mountable connector in order to secure the wall mountable connector to the back plate of the lock box.
