  • Publication number: 20130193685
Abstract: A pipe coupling for coupling adjacent ends of a pair of pipes includes a sleeve, a split-ring gland positioned around one of the ends of the sleeve, and an annular gasket positioned within the split-ring gland and configured to be compressed by the split-ring gland for sealing one pipe end to the sleeve. The split-ring gland includes two partially circular gland members with spaced ends defining a gap, which is spanned by an armor positioned in the gap to provide a generally closed annular periphery about the gasket. The armor includes a corrugated portion engaging the gasket during compression. The gasket includes a pressure assist slot configured to receive pressurized fluid leaking from the pipes and a plurality of cross grooves ensuring continued fluid communication with the pressure assist slot. The gasket also includes ribs engaging the split-ring gland and the armor to reduce or eliminate added lubrication necessary.

  • Publication number: 20120264427
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards SMS-initiated mobile registration. A mobile device sends an SMS message to a mobile registration device. In response, the mobile registration device generates a random identifier and associates it with the mobile device identifier of the mobile device. Then, the mobile registration device sends a response SMS message to the mobile device, the response SMS message containing a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) to a mobile registration web page, where the URI contains the generated random identifier. The mobile device uses the URI to navigate to the mobile registration web page, where additional registration information is provided. The mobile registration device associates the additional registration information with the mobile device based on the generated random identifier included in the URI, and creates a user account based on the mobile number from which the SMS message was received and the additional registration information.

  • Publication number: 20120046907
Abstract: A training method and apparatus for improving a physical technique, action, move or routine includes a portable electronic device which may be unobtrusively worn by the user. The portable electronic device includes motion sensor such as an accelerometer and/or gyroscope to determine the orientation and movement of the device. By monitoring the output of the motion sensor and applying the values according to predetermined movements, the user may be immediately provided positive and negative feedback. The device may be worn by the user during exercise or a sporting event without interfering with the user's movement.

  • Patent number: 7711854
Abstract: A computing system is provided that comprises a portable, hand-held computer comprising a display and a plurality of cursor control keys; and a proxy server coupled to the portable computer by a data link. A proxy server is also coupled to at least one remote server on the Internet. The portable computer is adapted to activate a menu comprised of a plurality of entries. Each entry corresponds to at least one mark-up language file to be accessed by the user. The method disclosed herein provides a shorthand way of requesting mark-up language files using one hand and a minimal number of keystrokes. Once the proxy server receives the file, it separates the file into viewable segments and sends the first viewable segment to the portable computer.

  • Patent number: 7548969
Abstract: Polling is disclosed. A client rule set, associated with a service level, is provided. Based upon the client rule set, a polling interval for a request type is determined. A message associated with the request type is provided, and a server is polled with the message in accordance with the polling interval. A response to the message is received, and the polling interval is adjusted.

  • Patent number: 7373553
Abstract: Customer support personnel can access via a vendor's portal an automated support vendor website to view the status of a fault incident that is being handled by the vendor's automated support system. In an illustrated embodiment, the customer can actually alter the status of the fault incident while it is being handled on the vendor's site.

  • Patent number: 7039591
Abstract: A method of configuring an architecture for provision of mobile access to a wireless communication device provides a structured framework for defining a preferential configuration of the architecture. A target list of resources is established with respect to mobile access of a wireless communication device. A set of components, associated with each established resource, is retrieved to form a menu of components of an architecture. Component data, associated with respective components, is presented to facilitate the defining of a preferential configuration. An arrangement is selected of the components from the menu to form the preferential configuration of the architecture.

  • Publication number: 20040249914
Abstract: Diagnostic data-collection software is triggered by a fault in application software running on a client computer. Data gathered by the diagnostic software is transmitted to a computer system of a service vendor. Analysis software running on the vendor system analyzes the diagnostic data and generates recommendations. The recommendations are posted on a vendor-managed website. The client is informed by email of a URL to access the recommendations. After a validation procedure, the client can access the recommendations. The recommendations can include instructions for a human to execute as well as software to be downloaded to the client computer.

  • Patent number: 6329892
Abstract: A relay includes contacts residing within a glass tube. A coil surrounding the tube and a switch are connected in parallel between two terminals of the relay. A current source supplies a current to the coil and switch. When the switch is open, substantially all of the current passes through the coil and the coil produces a sufficient amount of magnetic flux to close the relay's contacts. When the switch closes, it shunts a sufficient amount of the current away from the coil to reduce the magnetic flux it produces below the level needed to keep the contacts closed. The current source is sized so that the coil requires relatively few turns, thereby allowing the relay to be relatively thin. The coil is formed by a conductor embedded in an insulating substrate surrounding the tube.
