  • Publication number: 20120138003
Abstract: In one aspect, a machine includes an engine supported on a machine body. The engine includes a housing and a gear train that includes a crank gear meshed with a cam gear that is meshed with at least one powered gear. The cam gear is attached to a cam shaft by a drive coupler. The cam shaft is rotationally supported in the housing on a plurality of bearings, and the cam gear is rotationally supported on a stub shaft with an inner surface that is out of contact with the cam shaft. The stub shaft is attached to the housing of the engine.

  • Publication number: 20120138009
Abstract: An engine includes a camshaft supported in a housing for rotation about an axis of rotation. A cam gear is attached to one end of the camshaft and includes a first thrust bearing surface. A thrust ring is attached to the cam gear and includes a second thrust bearing surface. A thrust ring retainer is attached to the housing with a plurality of bolts and includes a pair of thrust surfaces trapped between the first thrust bearing surface of the cam gear and a second thrust bearing surface of the thrust ring. The thrust ring retainer also defines a portion of a lubrication connection passage that facilitates pressure equalization among a plurality of lubrication galleries arranged in parallel adjacent the camshaft.

  • Publication number: 20120034377
Abstract: A method for coating a filter medium (110) of a sand control screen assembly (100). The method includes providing a sand control screen assembly (100) having a filter medium (110), the filter medium (110) having pores therein, flowing a slurry containing particles through the filter medium (110) of the sand control screen assembly (100) and bridging the particle across the pores to form a particle coating (116) on the filter medium (110), thereby protecting of the filter medium (110) during installation, enabling transportation of reactive materials to a desired wellbore location and enabling circulation of fluid through the sand control screen assembly (100).

  • Patent number: 6540022
Abstract: A method for fracturing a formation or gravel packing a borehole using a screen assembly having a plurality of screens mounted on a base member and a plurality of apertures disposed at predetermined intervals along the screen assembly. A flow-control service assembly is disposed within the screen assembly and includes an outer tubular member and an inner tubular member. The outer tubular member includes a plurality of ports that communicate with the apertures in the screen assembly. Barriers are placed around the ports on the outer tubular member to prevent the formation of gravel bridges across the inner annulus between the inner tubular member and outer tubular member. The inner annulus provides alternative flow paths around the ports upon the ports becoming closed to fluid flow such as by bridges.

  • Patent number: 6481494
Abstract: A method and apparatus for fracturing a formation or gravel packing a borehole extending through an unconsolidated subterranean zone in a formation includes a screen assembly having a length adapted for disposal adjacent the unconsolidated subterranean zone and includes a plurality of screens mounted on a base member with adjacent base members being connected by a sub having an aperture in the wall thereof. A flow-control service assembly is disposed within the bore of the screen assembly and includes an outer tubular member and an inner tubular member. The outer tubular member includes a plurality of ports that communicate with the apertures in the screen assembly. The apertures in the screen assembly are disposed along the length of screen assembly at predetermined intervals. The inner tubular member and outer tubular member form an inner annulus, the outer tubular member and screen assembly form a medial annulus, and the screen assembly forms an outer annulus with the wall of the borehole.
