Patent number: 11874077Abstract: An apparatus for sensing an obstruction within a tube being cleaned and repetitively advancing and retracting a flexible high pressure fluid cleaning lance within the tube is disclosed. The apparatus monitors drive roller/belt position and actual hose position, compares the belt (expected travel) to hose position (travel) and generates a position difference, or mismatch. If the mismatch is above a predetermined level, the drive motor direction is reversed for a predetermined time interval, and forward operation restored after the predetermined time interval; and the sequence of repeating the reversing and restoring operations is continued until the position difference or mismatch no longer exceeds the predetermined difference threshold.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2022Date of Patent: January 16, 2024Assignee: STONEAGE, INC.Inventors: Travis Watkins, Jeffery R. Barnes, Daniel Szabo, Cody R. Montoya

Publication number: 20180372432Abstract: An apparatus for sensing an obstruction within a tube being cleaned and repetitively advancing and retracting a flexible high pressure fluid cleaning lance within the tube is disclosed. The method includes sensing a pneumatic supply pressure to a pneumatic lance drive motor at the motor during forward operation, sensing a pneumatic discharge pressure at the drive motor during forward operation, determining a difference between the pressures, comparing the difference to a predetermined difference threshold; reversing the drive motor direction for a predetermined time interval if the difference exceeds the threshold, and restoring forward operation after the predetermined time interval; and repeating the reversing and restoring operations until the difference no longer exceeds the predetermined difference threshold.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2018Publication date: December 27, 2018Inventor: Travis Watkins

Patent number: 8132637Abstract: An attachment for an electric wheelchair that enables the electric wheelchair to be used in areas that would not otherwise be possible, e.g., beaches, mud, and tall grass. The attachment is powered off of the wheelchair's motor and allows the user to explore terrain that would not be possible in conventional wheelchair designs.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2010Date of Patent: March 13, 2012Assignee: University Of South FloridaInventors: Travis Watkins, Robert Burn, John Hopkins

Patent number: 7815004Abstract: This invention pertains to an attachment to an electric wheelchair. The attachment enables an electric wheelchair to be used in areas that would not otherwise be possible. An electric wheelchair, though very useful and necessary, has several mobility drawbacks. Off road areas such as beaches, mud, and even tall grass pose a problem to the electric wheelchair. This invention provides an attachment to an existing electric wheelchair and powered off of that wheelchair's motor that allows the user to explore terrain that would not be possible in conventional wheelchair designs. By designing a drive system that works off of the electric wheelchair's power, the attachment can remain purely mechanical. With no motors or electric parts on the attachment, the design is simple and user friendly.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2006Date of Patent: October 19, 2010Assignee: University of South FloridaInventors: Travis Watkins, Robert Burn, John Hopkins
