  • Patent number: 11421052
Abstract: A process for producing a crosslinked polymer involves contacting an epoxidized unsaturated isoolefin copolymer with a catalytic amount of an acid in an absence of a solvent. A process for producing a hydroxylated unsaturated isoolefin copolymer involves contacting an epoxidized unsaturated isoolefin copolymer with a catalytic amount of an acid in an absence of a solvent. A hydroxylated unsaturated isoolefin copolymer having hydroxyl groups in endo configurations may be produced thereby.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 22, 2020
Date of Patent: August 23, 2022
    Assignee: ARLANXEO SINGAPORE PTE. LTD.
Inventors: Paul Nguyen, Treena Crockett, Gregory J. E. Davidson, Sharon Guo

  • Publication number: 20140171581
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a peroxide curable rubber compound containing a butyl rubber polymer, an olefin polymer of ethylene, at least one ?-olefin and optionally at least one diene, and a high vinyl polybutadiene polymer. The present invention is also directed to a peroxide curable rubber compound containing a butyl polymer, an EP(D)M rubber polymer, and a 1,2-polybutadiene polymer.

  • Publication number: 20100036037
Abstract: A polymerization process for preparing a silica-filled butyl rubber polymer. A quaternary onium ion substituted silaceous nanoclay is dispersed in the organic polymerization fluid prior to polymerization of an isoolefin monomer and a multiolefin monomer in the fluid. The resulting silica-filled polymer comprises butyl rubber intercalated with silica from the silaceous nanoclay. The rate of polymerization is substantially unaffected by addition of the nanoclay to the polymerization fluid. The resulting silica-filled polymers exhibit improved impermeability as compared with non-filled polymers.
