Publication number: 20230191189Abstract: An incline mechanism for a treadmill includes a threaded rod supported by an upright structure. The threaded rod and a lift motor are connected to the upright support above the front end of an exercise deck. The threaded rod is threaded onto a threaded coupler. The threaded coupler is connected to a lift trolley connected to the front end of the exercise deck. As the lift motor rotates the threaded rod, the threaded coupler may move along the length of the threaded rod, thereby changing the inclination of the exercise deck.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2022Publication date: June 22, 2023Inventors: Keith A. Taylor, Trenton Von Larsen, Tyler Fallentine, Luke Downs

Publication number: 20230181993Abstract: A console for an exercise device includes a translational mechanism and a rotational mechanism. During operation, a component of the exercise device may prevent rotation or at least partially obscure the user's view of the display. The translational mechanism may move the console out of the way of the component so that the console may be moved and the display visible to the user when performing an exercise activity while dismounted from the exercise device.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2022Publication date: June 15, 2023Inventors: Keith A. Taylor, Trenton Von Larsen, Grant Clove, Tyler Fallentine, Luke Downs

Publication number: 20220339493Abstract: A treadmill includes a tread belt that is rotatable in a forward direction and a backward direction. Before changing rotation directions on the tread belt, the treadmill implements a safety action. The safety action includes an alert and input in response to the alert to improve the safety of the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2022Publication date: October 27, 2022Inventor: Trenton Von Larsen

Patent number: 9937379Abstract: An elliptical exercise machine, in one embodiment, includes a first assembly pivotally coupled with a second assembly and at least one assist mechanism. The first assembly includes a first frame member, a rotational resistance mechanism associated with the first frame member, a first foot support member pivotally coupled to a portion of the rotational mechanism and a second foot support member pivotally coupled to another portion of the rotational mechanism. The second assembly includes a second frame member, a first reciprocating arm pivotally coupled with the second frame member, a second reciprocating arm pivotally coupled with the second frame member. In one embodiment, the assist mechanism may include a folding assist mechanism to provide resistance between the assemblies during a folding transition. In another embodiment, the assist mechanism may include a rotational assist mechanism to assist a user in transitioning the elliptical machine to an upright storage position.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2016Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: ICON Health & Fitness, Inc.Inventors: Nathan Mortensen, William T. Dalebout, Trenton Von Larsen

Patent number: 9492704Abstract: Embodiments of an elliptical exercise machine are provided including an elliptical exercise machine having a rear mechanism that is foldable or collapsible from an operating position to a storage position. In one embodiment, the elliptical machine includes a first assembly pivotally coupled with a second assembly. The first assembly includes a first frame member, a rear rotational mechanism and first and second foot supports operably coupled with the rotational mechanism. The second assembly includes a second frame member, a first reciprocating arm and a second reciprocating arm. The second assembly may be displaced relative to the first assembly from an operating position to a storage position without having to alter the operational relationships of the components of the first assembly and without having to alter the operational relationships of the components of the second assembly.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2014Date of Patent: November 15, 2016Assignee: ICON Health & Fitness, Inc.Inventors: Nathan Mortensen, William T. Dalebout, Trenton Von Larsen
