Publication number: 20220121545Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an improvement over known approaches for monitoring of and taking action on observations associated with distributed applications. Application event reporting and application resource monitoring is unified in a manner that significantly reduces storage and aggregation overhead. For example, embodiments of the present invention can employ hardware and/or software support that reduces storage and aggregation overhead. In addition to providing for fine-grained, continuous, decentralized monitoring of application activity and resource consumption, embodiments of the present invention can also provide for decentralized filtering, statistical analysis, and derived data streaming. Furthermore, embodiments of the present invention are securely implemented (e.g., for use solely under the control of an operator) and can use a separate security domain for network traffic.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2021Publication date: April 21, 2022Applicant: III Holdings 2, LLCInventors: Niall Joseph Dalton, Trevor Robinson

Patent number: 7561572Abstract: A method for facilitating tracking of packets through a plurality of localized transaction-tagging domains comprises determining a local tag applied within a first localized transaction-tagging domain to an output packet of the first localized transaction-tagging domain and assigning a system-generated global transaction tag to the output packet dependent upon the local tag. Assigning is performed in response to successfully performing the determining. The global transaction tag information is re-applied to an output packet of a second localized transaction-tagging domain after the packet is generated by the second localized transaction-tagging domain. The global transaction tag is a unique identifier that identifies all packets associated with a particular transaction globally across a plurality of localized transaction-tagging domains.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2005Date of Patent: July 14, 2009Assignee: Newisys, Inc.Inventors: Trevor A. Robinson, Mark Bradley Davis

Publication number: 20060277552Abstract: A method for facilitating handling of exceptions in object code transformed from a 1-to-1 threading model to a M-to-N threading model comprises transforming object code having a 1-to-1 threading model to a M-to-N threading model, saving context of a Runnable section of the object code into a context object in response to an exception occurring and rethrowing the exception after performing the saving. The transforming includes creating a Boolean enable value in a method context for an exception handler in the method context, mapping an exception type to the exception handler and wrapping a Runnable section of the object code within a respective synthetic exception handler. The respective synthetic exception handler is configured for saving context of the object code Runnable into a context object in response to an exception occurring and rethrowing the exception after performing the saving.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2005Publication date: December 7, 2006Inventors: Jonathan Nall, Trevor Robinson

Publication number: 20060253271Abstract: A method comprises analyzing multi-threaded process-oriented object code representing a simulation model and transforming said multi-threaded process-oriented object code to event-based object code representing a simulation model equivalent to simulation model represented by said multi-threaded process-oriented object code. Transformation is performed automatically in response to the analysis and includes creating continuation functionality between adjacent threads of execution. Analyzing object code includes determining a potentially blocking method and analyzing its control flow. Transforming multi-threaded process-oriented object code includes configuring the event-based object code to schedule a jump to a first one of a plurality of non-blocking Runnable methods of the simulation model represented by the event-based object code.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2005Publication date: November 9, 2006Inventors: Mark Davis, Trevor Robinson, Jon Nall

Patent number: 6339361Abstract: A driver system for a power amplifier in a wireless communication handset. The driver system includes a driver and a current source. The driver drives the power amplifier at a level of linearity determined responsive to a variable input bias current provided by the current source. The current source varies the bias current, and thus the degree of linearity provided, responsive to the desired output power of the handset.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1999Date of Patent: January 15, 2002Assignee: Conexant Systems, Inc.Inventors: Sabah Khesbak, Madhukar Reddy, Pramote Piriyapoksombut, Trevor Robinson

Patent number: 6124761Abstract: A variable gain amplifier (VGA) having a control voltage source that provides high gain-to-control voltage linearity over at least an 80 dB gain range. Further, the gain curve for the VGA is essentially independent of temperature. In the preferred embodiment, the VGA includes a two-stage bipolar differential amplifier. Each stage is a transconductor followed by current steering. The first stage amplifier is coupled to an exponentially varying current source to change the transconductance of the stage. The second stage amplifier is coupled to an fixed current source to maintain a fixed transconductance for the stage. To obtain exponential current steering, the control signal for the current steering circuitry is pre-distorted by the following equation:I/(1+exp(-f(V.sub.CTRL /V.sub.T))=I*A*exp(V.sub.CTRL /V.sub.REF),where A is a scaling factor, V.sub.T =kT/q, and T is temperature in Kelvin. The invention includes a fast, inexpensive control voltage source that provides such a signal.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1998Date of Patent: September 26, 2000Inventors: Trevor Robinson, Pramote Piriyapoksombu
