    Abstract: An apparatus is described for counting the number of people crossing from one side of a given threshold to the other. The apparatus comprises a plurality of sensing means (10) for mounting above the threshold, each capable of detecting an item passing beneath it. Processing means compare the detection signals of each pair of adjacent sensing means to prevent the same person from being counted separately by the adjacent sensing means.
