  • Publication number: 20100165961
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for media access control (MAC) layer processing to support social networking and advertisements over the MAC layer of a local personal area network (PAN). An application interface permits a service category corresponding to the application to be selected, and further permits service announcements corresponding to the application to be advertised. Generator logic may generate the service announcements to be advertised. The MAC layer processor inserts the service announcements into beacons in the local MAC layer of the local PAN and also receives advertisements from other devices over the MAC layer of the local PAN. Monitor logic can monitor the MAC layer of the local PAN for advertisements corresponding to the selected service category. The monitor logic is also operatively coupled with the application interface for displaying advertised services corresponding to the selected service category.

  • Publication number: 20090171180
Abstract: A mobile device may use near field communication (NFC) technology to configuration a generic pool of wearable, wireless sensors that may occupy different physical locations on an end user s body. The wearable sensors have an embedded NFC tag in them such, that a mobile device, such as a mobile phone, with an NFC capability may be used to configure sensors in the field so that it recognizes which sensor is connected to which body part. Such a system may be used for example to monitor and report on the user's daily physical activity patterns or be used for video gaming applications where the user's physical movements are detected and utilized to control the game.

  • Publication number: 20060104540
Abstract: A result higher resolution (HR) image of a scene given multiple, observed lower resolution (LR) images of the scene is computed using a Bayesian estimation image reconstruction methodology. The methodology yields the result HR image based on a Likelihood probability function that implements a model for the formation of LR images in the presence of noise. This noise is modeled by a probabilistic, non-Gaussian, robust function. The image reconstruction methodology may be used to enhance the image quality of images or video captured using a low resolution image capture device. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
