An automated, downdraft gasifier incorporates extensive air injection into the char bed to maintain the conditions that promote the destruction of residual tars. The resulting fuel gas and entrained char and ash are cooled in a special heat exchanger, and then continuously cleaned in a filter prior to usage in standalone as well as networked power systems.

    Abstract: System and method for providing secure resource management. The system includes a first device that creates a secure, shared resource space and a corresponding root certificate for the shared space. The first device associates one or more resources that it can access with the shared space. The first device invites one or more other devices to join as members of the space, and establishes secure communication channels with the devices that accept this invitation. The first device generates a member certificate for each accepting device, and sends the root certificate and the generated member certificate to the device through the secure channel. These devices may then access resources associated with the shared space by presenting their member certificates. Further, members of the shared space may invite other device to join the space, and may create member certificates in the same manner as the first device.

    Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus and methods for injection moulding polymeric cannulae from liquid polymeric materials. The method includes injecting pressurised liquid polymer into a mould cavity and into an overflow and forming a conduit by forcing pressurised working fluid through the solidifying liquid polymer into the overflow. The invention provides a mould for fluid-assisted injection moulding articles from polymeric materials, the mould comprising at least two parts defining a cavity having a conduit portion incorporating a needle portion; a channel for liquid polymer ingress; a channel for pressurised fluid ingress; and an overflow in communication with the conduit portion. The mould may incorporate a plurality of cavities. Preferably the volume of the overflow is equal to or greater than the volume of the conduit portion. Preferably the mould incorporates a separating means for separating the overflow from a cannula portion of an article formed in the mould.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a needle tip for needles of cannulae for penetrating materials and transferring fluids. The needle tip incorporates at least one conduit for transferring the fluids, at least one blade portion and at least one aperture in fluid communication with the conduit, an aperture being disposed generally opposite a blade portion. The at least one blade portion preferably comprises of concave surfaces joining in a cutting surface. A needle tip according to the invention may have more than one conduit, more than one blade portion, and more than one aperture. Preferably, the needle tip comprises of a tear-drop shape in cross section. The needle tip is simple to make and can be advantageously used in single-use applications. Preferably the needle tip is comprised of polymeric material. Preferably the needle tip is manufactured by fluid-assisted moulding.

Supply (4) supplies a source current iinput that is less than a predetermines current limit specified for the supply and which is less than the peak load current. A pair of output terminals (5) is electrically connected with terminals (3) and card (2). A supercapacitor device in the form of a single supercapacitor (6) is in parallel with terminals (3, 5) for allowing the load to be supplied the peak load current while maintaining the source current at less than the predetermined current limit.
