  • Patent number: 8262533
Abstract: The invention provides a transmission providing a gear ratio between an input shaft and an output shaft. The transmission comprises an annulus ring, a sun wheel being rotatable around a central axis of the transmission, a planet carrier being rotatable around the central axis of the transmission, and a set of planet wheels, each wheel comprising a plurality of wheel segments with different diameters, the planet wheels being fixed in rotational bearings of the planet carrier and being arranged to rotate epicyclically around the central axis. The annulus ring and the sun wheel each interacts with one of the wheel segments e.g. via meshing toothed gear wheels. The gear facilitates various interaction means at different locations in the gear, and thus facilitates a potentially less noisy, lighter, smaller or stronger gear by use of a low amount of components.

  • Publication number: 20100264781
Abstract: The invention provides a generator for a bicycle. The generator has a driving magnet (2) fixed to a wheel of the bicycle and an induction structure which is fixed to the frame of the bicycle. The induction structure comprises an induction magnet (3) which is movably fixed to a coil (4). A fixture allows fixing of the magnets at locations where they, during normal operation of the bicycle, repeatedly moves towards and away from each other so that the driving magnet moves the induction magnet relative to the coil. To provide a generator which can potentially deliver a uniform output which is less dependent on a very specific installation of the generator, on the bicycle and which may therefore be easy to install, the generator further comprises a resetting magnet (5) which provides positioning of the induction magnet relative to the coil when the driving magnet moves away from the induction magnet.

Abstract: An epicyclically or so called planet gear system with two annulus gears, two solar gears with external toothing, and two planet gears one of which meshing with an annulus gear and one of which meshing with a sun gear. The gear is interchangeable between a first configuration forming a gear chain between the input shaft and the output shaft via interaction between of the planetary gears and one of the sun gears and a second configuration forming the gear chain via interaction between the other planetary gear and the other sun gear. Accordingly, the gear can be shifted between two different gear ratios in a simple and reliable manner.

  • Publication number: 20070086893
Abstract: An apparatus and a method used to determine the speed and direction of the wind experienced by a wind turbine are provided. The apparatus comprises at least one sensor fixed to the rotor of the wind turbine, an angular sensor to measure the angular position of the rotor of the wind turbine, and a circuit which converts the relationship between the output of the at least one sensor and the output of the angular sensor into the speed and direction of the wind experienced by the wind turbine. According to the invention, the sensing apparatus can measure the wind speed and direction in three dimensions. In addition, mounting the sensors directly to the rotor of the wind turbine results in a very simple and robust installation. Mounting the sensors directly to the rotor also eliminates the turbulence from the rotor and the nacelle of the wind turbine from affecting the sensors.
