  • Publication number: 20120046592
Abstract: An applicator for providing HIFU therapy to a patient includes a HIFU transducer that is rotatably coupled to a frame. In one embodiment, the rotatable coupling is configured such that the HIFU transducer can be mechanically oriented to position a focal zone of the HIFU transducer at any desired location in a treatment volume radially outward from a longitudinal axis of the applicator while the HIFU transducer remains within a housing that is not more than a defined percentage (e.g., 50%) larger than the maximum diameter of the HIFU transducer. In one embodiment, the HIFU transducer is rotatably coupled to the frame with a ball and socket joint. In another embodiment, the HIFU transducer is rotatably coupled to the frame with an offset gimble assembly. A pair of linear actuators and drive shafts engage the HIFU transducer to orient HIFU transducer in a desired direction.

  • Patent number: 7280725
Abstract: A furcation tube including a central channel for receiving a fiber optic drop cable in a first end and an upjacket in a second end to transition an optical fiber within the drop cable into the upjacket for termination. A method of transitioning an optical fiber from a drop cable to a smaller upjacket.

  • Publication number: 20070177327
Abstract: An additional containment system for a fluid containment vessel includes an outer section, an inner section, and a monitoring system. A plurality of independent and distinct zones of interstitial space are positioned between the outer section and the inner section. The monitoring system is connected to and separately monitors a pressure in each of the zones. A divider plate is attached to both the inner section and the outer section and divides a first zone from a second zone. Upon detecting a leak, the monitoring system provides an indication as to the leak being in the outer section or in the inner section, and upon detecting a leak, the monitoring system also provides an indication as to which of the zones the leak is detected.

  • Publication number: 20050201610
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for contactless or touch-free measurement of a tool by imaging. A processor makes calculations based on image points on the tool, imaged onto an imaging area. Optics present the image of the image points on the tool on the imaging area. The processor calculates the momentary position and/or orientation along at least one axis of the tool making use of the image points. A number of measuring markers have predetermined mutual positions and are on the tool. Each measuring marker comprises at least one measuring point. At least one of the points is identifiable. Each measuring marker to be used as position and/or orientation indicator has a size making it restorable by the processor even if a part of it on the tool is obscured from the image area, for example by dust.
