Abstract: A remote monitoring device is described that includes a microprocessor, a location determination unit connected to the microprocessor and operable to determine a location of the remote monitoring device. One or more interfaces connect the microprocessor to one or more sensors, wherein the one or more interfaces includes a multi-function radio frequency interface to communicate with wireless sensors. A radio frequency identification (RFID) interface interacts with RFID readers using the multi-function radio frequency interface, and a configuration interface to allow a user to configure the monitoring device also uses the multi-function radio frequency interface. The monitoring device uses a transmitter to transmit the location, status and collected information.

Abstract: A system method for improving the accuracy of a tracking device is described where the tracking device cannot achieve an accurate GPS fix due to low observability. The system and method improves accuracy determining a current position for the tracking device using incomplete information from the GPS. The current position is added to a historical table of previous position determinations and a normalized center position is calculated from the current position and previous position determinations. The position of the tracking device is inferred from the normalized center position.

Abstract: A system and method for graphically displaying information concerning geographically dispersed assets. The system comprises a computer program that associates map and/or geographical data with a physical asset; an icon or other graphical representation of each dispersed asset; and an automatic grouping function that combines at least two of the assets into a single icon or other graphical representation of the multiplicity of assets and generates a shape that represents the grouped assets.
