  • Publication number: 20230279991
Abstract: Techniques for delivering lubricant to a packing assembly of a fluid end of a reciprocating pump include delivering lubricant to a stuffing box that is housing a packing assembly or to a manifold disposed in or around the stuffing box. The lubricant configured to decrease friction between an interior surface of the packing assembly and a reciprocating component moving along the interior surface. Prior to delivering the lubricant to the interior surface of the packing assembly, the lubricant is diverted to multiple radial flow paths circumferentially spaced around a bore in which the packing assembly is disposed. The multiple radial flow paths lead to the interior surface of the packing assembly and the lubricant flowing through the multiple radial flow paths is metered at different flow rates based on a friction gradient across the interior surface of the packing assembly.

  • Patent number: 10837556
Abstract: A packing arrangement for a fluid end of a reciprocating pump is received within a packing box and is arranged to form a seal with a plunger. The packing arrangement includes a plurality of separate annular rings arranged in an abutting relationship with one another within the packing box, and a header ring disposed within the plurality of separate annular rings, the header ring including an inner surface that is non-cylindrical and that is arranged to abut the plunger, a high pressure side that is arranged in a female chevron shape, and a low pressure side opposite the high pressure side. A packing nut is engaged with the fluid end and operable to compress the header ring and the plurality of separate annular rings within the packing box.

  • Publication number: 20190170137
Abstract: A reciprocating pump includes a casing defining a pumping chamber, a plunger configured to reciprocate in an axial direction within the pumping chamber along a plunger axis, and an annular header ring positioned between the plunger and the casing. The annular header ring is formed solely of a fabric-reinforced rubber.

  • Patent number: 9637660
Abstract: The invention relates to unique applications for the novel high melt flow, low viscosity, selectively hydrogenated styrene-butadiene-styrene (hSBS) or selectively hydrogenated controlled distribution styrene-butadiene/styrene-styrene (hSBSS) block copolymers, wherein the melt flow rate of said block copolymer is at least 100 g/10 min at 230° C. under 2.16 kg mass according to ASTM D1238. These block copolymers are novel and have the highest melt flow rate of any styrenic block copolymer also possessing high strength and elasticity. It has applications that prior to the present invention were not normally possible due to the normal low melt flow rate of styrenic block copolymers. The present invention also encompasses various fields of use such as a fiberglass hSBS or hSBSS reinforced mat, low viscosity hSBS or hSBSS coatings for industrial uses, hot melt adhesives prepared from hSBS or hSBSS blended with polyalpha-olefins, and elastic film, fiber, and nonwoven constructions using hSBS or hSBSS.
