  • Publication number: 20220292887
Abstract: A method for detecting inattentive vehicle operation in a commercial vehicle includes monitoring a motion of a rear portion of a trailer and identifying a motion trend. The method compares the motion trend with a set of known inattentive driving trends and identifies an inattentive driving event when the identified trend matches a known inattentive driving trend in the set of known inattentive driving trends.

  • Publication number: 20220292841
Abstract: A vehicle display system according to an example embodiment of the present disclosure includes a camera configured to record images of an area outside a vehicle; a display configured to display a video feed of the recorded images to an occupant of the vehicle (e.g., on a display disposed within a vehicle cabin of the vehicle); and a processor operatively connected to the camera and display. The processor is configured to detect one or more objects in the recorded images; receive a selection of a particular one of the one or more objects from a vehicle occupant; and adjust the video feed based on the selection to keep the particular one of the one or more objects in a field of view of the video feed as the object moves relative to the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20120303222
Abstract: A system and method of assisting a driver of a vehicle by providing driver and vehicle feedback control signals is disclosed. The system and method includes receiving location data of the vehicle from a GPS unit, receiving the location data of the vehicle and retrieving navigation characteristics relevant to the location data using a processing circuit, generating a most probable future path for the vehicle and determining a location of at least one navigation characteristic with respect to the most probable future path and the vehicle, generating vehicle data at least one vehicle sensor, and transmitting a control signal to a vehicle control area network to warn the driver of an upcoming navigation characteristic on the most probable path.

  • Publication number: 20120245817
Abstract: A system and method of assisting a driver of a vehicle by providing driver and vehicle feedback control signals is disclosed herein. The system and method includes receiving location data of the vehicle from a GPS unit, retrieving navigation characteristics stored in a map database based on the location data, generating a path tree comprising a set of forward paths the vehicle can take and a path tree root comprising the current path the vehicle is on and generating vehicle data from at least one vehicle sensor. The system and method also includes determining a most probable future path for the vehicle, determining road curvature of the most probable path at a plurality of nodes, comparing the received vehicle data with a threshold at one of the plurality of nodes on the most probable path, and transmitting a control signal in the case that the threshold has been exceeded.

  • Patent number: 6640174
Abstract: A restraint and fuel pump cutoff control system is disclosed wherein a restraint control module controls the restraint system such as an air bag deployment system and a fuel system power supply based upon data inputs from sensors positioned at various locations on the vehicle. When data received from the sensors indicates that a collision event has occurred and has reached the predetermined level of severity, power to the fuel system is cut off to prevent undesired pumping of fuel. If power is interrupted during a collision event, the fuel system will be cut off and remain cut off until reset by turning the ignition switch to off and then to run/start indicating a clean shutdown. The restraint control module utilizes collision data profiles to distinguish between power shutdowns occurring during a collision event and power shutdowns occurring when only background data is being received from the sensors.
