  • Patent number: 11273861
Abstract: A method of operating a steering system having a rotatable steering control, a steering actuator having a rod movable along a range of travel, a rotary device coupled to the steering control, and a valve assembly disposed between the rotary device and the steering actuator includes rotating the steering control in a first direction, displacing the rod toward an end of the range of travel, and determining when the rod reaches the end of the range of travel. The method also includes, after determining, actuating the valve assembly from a first position in which the rotary device is not in fluid communication with the steering actuator, to a second position in which the rotary device is in fluid communication with the steering actuator, and inhibiting further rotation of the steering control in the first direction due to back pressure on the rotary device.

  • Patent number: 10633015
Abstract: A steering system includes a user-manipulable steering control, a steering actuator, a pump, and a first valve assembly configured to control a flow of fluid from the pump to the steering actuator in response to manipulation of the steering control. The steering system also includes a rotary device coupled to the steering control. The rotary device is configured to direct fluid in response to manipulation of the steering control. The steering system further includes a second valve assembly movable between a first position in which the rotary device is not in fluid communication with the steering actuator and a second position in which the second valve assembly fluidly communicates the rotary device with the steering actuator.

  • Publication number: 20070256884
Abstract: A steering control system is provided for a vehicle having a steering wheel, steerable wheels, and a hydraulic steering actuator for controlling a steering angle of the steerable wheels in response to a hydraulic control signal. The steering control system includes a hydro-mechanical valve coupled to the steering wheel and generating a first hydraulic signal as a function of steering wheel position, an electro-hydraulic valve generating a second hydraulic signal as a function of an electronic control signal, an electronic control unit generating the electronic control signal, and a hydraulic combining unit which combines the first and second hydraulic signals supplies the hydraulic control signal to the hydraulic steering actuator. The steering control system also includes a steering wheel angle sensor, a yaw rate sensor, and a steered wheel angle sensor. The control unit generates an electronic control signal as a function of the sensor signals.

  • Publication number: 20060190152
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling steering oscillations in a work vehicle having a closed loop GPS based automatic steering system, wherein the closed loop steering system has a default gain and a user defined gain. The method causes the system to automatically apply the default gain when an implement is raised and/or when a steering oscillation has been detected and to automatically apply the user defined gain when the implement has been lowered and/or the GPS track has been acquired.

  • Publication number: 20060009897
Abstract: A control system performs a method for controlling pitching and bouncing of a vehicle having an engine driving wheels through a transmission, and having a fuel control unit for supplying a variable amount of fuel to the engine in response to fuel control signals generated by an engine control unit. The method includes, from front and rear acceleration signals, generating vehicle pitch and bounce signals, converting the pitch and bounce signals to RMS pitch and bounce values, generating a fuel offset value as a function of the RMS pitch and bounce values, and modifying fuel delivered to the engine as a function of the fuel offset value. The fuel offset value is operate don by a bi-linear gain function wherein negative values are multiplied by a larger gain and positive values are multiplied by a smaller gain.
