Abstract: In one embodiment, an antenna system has a plurality of antenna paths and a calibration circuit. Each of the antenna paths has a transceiver and an antenna element. The calibration circuit has (i) a calibration transceiver and a different coupler coupled to each antenna path. The couplers are connected in series with one another and with the calibration transceiver. Connecting the couplers in series, rather than in parallel, reduces the amount of cabling needed and the need for a combiner/splitter or switch matrix between the couplers and the calibration transceiver, thereby reducing the cost, volume, and/or weight associated with the calibration circuit.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method that will enable a wireless telephone user to more easily download information and data by from locations accessed via a communication network. This invention accomplishes this task by expanding the bandwidth of the receiving telephone device such that the bandwidth is sufficient to receive the transmitted data. The present invention expands this bandwidth at the receiver location by combining the bandwidth of the additional wireless telephones with the bandwidth of one requester telephone and receiving a portion of the information at each of the wireless telephones.

Abstract: A method for an email voice reader capable of adapting gender and emotions of a sender, the method comprising: sending email data by the sender via a directory service, the directory service storing a plurality of attributes of the email data, the plurality of attributes being pre-selected by the sender; receiving the email data by a recipient; enabling the recipient to listen to the email data via the email voice reader, the email data including the plurality of attributes pre-selected by the sender and stored at the directory service; and automatically identifying the gender of the sender by allowing the sender to specify and add a first attribute to the plurality of attributes stored at the directory service, wherein the email voice reader of the recipient automatically recognizes whether to apply a male voice or a female voice based on the added first attribute.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, system, and computer usable program code for correcting information in a received electronic mail. Responsive to a correction of information in the received e-mail by a recipient of the received e-mail, a correction note is generated that contains the correction. The correction note is sent to any other recipients and a sender of the received e-mail, wherein the correction note is used by a correcting user agent to correct information in the received e-mail for the any other recipients and the sender of the received e-mail.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, system, and computer usable program code for correcting a received electronic mail having an erroneous header. Responsive to a recipient receiving an e-mail indicating the erroneous header, the recipient corrects the erroneous header to form a corrected header. Responsive to the recipient correcting the erroneous header to form the corrected header, a received e-mail is updated for other recipients and a sender of the received e-mail with the corrected header.

Abstract: Methods and systems for selectively displaying a portion of an electronic desktop to a remote display are provided. A user interface such as a mouse or touchpad is used to select a region on the electronic desktop of a first computer to be displayed remotely. A signal including the content displayed in the region is sent to a second computer for remotely displaying the defined portion of the first computer's electronic desktop.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for adapting television channel numbers at a home location to the corresponding television channels, if any, at a visited location. Television channel mapping information is stored in a portable channel mapping storage unit. The portable channel mapping storage unit may be connected to a television set in a visited location, and the visited television set maps its received channels to corresponding channels of the home set. The visited television can then display home channel numbers for its received channels which are the same, or correspond, to channels received at the home television set.

Abstract: An implementation in a computer controlled mouse for storing a plurality of data entries to be repetitively entered into any computer controlled display screen connected to the control mouse combined with means for displaying a menu of items representative of the plurality of stored data entries. There is also an implementation controlled by the mouse for selecting items from the menu combined with means in the mouse for controlling the entry of the selected items at selected positions in display panels on the display screen. The computer will include a function, responsive to the function in the mouse for controlling the entry of selected items, for entering these selected items in said display panels. The function for entering the selected items in said display panels is in the operating system of said computer.

Abstract: A system and method for synchronizing distributed data streams for automating real-time navigation through presentation slides in an electronic conference are provided. With the system and method, a participant in an electronic conference is permitted to navigate back and forth through a series of presentation slides while being able to automatically synchronize the participant's display to a current position within the series of presentation slides regardless of which slide the participant's computer is currently displaying. The present invention provides a background mechanism for monitoring the current live presentation by a presenter during an electronic conference while a participant navigates through a local copy of the presentation slides. Upon the selection of a synchronization option, the participant's display output of the presentation slides is synchronized with the current live presentation using the background mechanism.

Abstract: A distortion reduction system uses upstream signal information, such as the carrier frequencies in an input signal, to adjust at least one frequency for a pilot signal to be injected into the distortion reduction system and to be detected at the output of the distortion reduction system, thereby enabling improved distortion reduction of changing input signals. For example, processing circuitry obtains the traffic frequencies making up a signal to be amplified by a feed forward arrangement. Using the traffic frequencies, the processing circuitry determines at least one frequency for a pilot signal, and the processing circuitry tunes a pilot signal generator to the at least one frequency for the pilot signal. The feed forward arrangement receives the signal to be amplified and provides replicas of the signal on a main signal path and on a feed forward path. The pilot signal is injected into the main signal path at the at least one frequency along with the signal to be amplified.

Abstract: A distortion reduction system uses upstream signal information from carrier frequencies in a signal to be amplified, to determine at least one frequency for the distortion generated by an amplifier amplifying the signal. A sample of an output is taken, and a distortion detection circuitry is used to detect the amplitude of the distortion at least at the one frequency. In response to the amplitude of the distortion at the one frequency, the processing circuitry provides gain and/or phase control signal(s) to adjust the relative phase and/or gain between combining distortion products to reduce the amplitude of the distortion.
