  • Publication number: 20140173238
Abstract: Described are systems and method for protecting data and instructions shared over a memory bus and stored in memory. Independent and separately timed stream ciphers for write and read channels allow timing variations between write and read transactions. Data and instructions can be separately encrypted prior to channel encryption to further secure the information. pad generators and related cryptographic circuits are shared for read and write data, and to secure addresses. The cryptographic circuits can support variable data widths, and in some embodiments memory devices incorporate security circuitry that can implement a shared-key algorithm using repurposed memory circuitry.

  • Patent number: 8718246
Abstract: A communication manager establishes a call between two or more participants on two or more communication devices. The call can be an audio or video call. A call request is sent from one of the communication devices to conference an additional communication device to the call. For example, a participant in the call decides to conference an additional person to further discuss an idea. An information manager gets a roster of the participants. In addition to the call request, the roster of the participants is sent to the additional communication device. The additional communication device receives the call request and the roster. The roster is displayed to the user of the additional communication device. The user can then indicate to answer the call request. If answered, the additional communication device sends an indication that the call was answered and the additional communication device is conferenced into the call.

  • Publication number: 20140117208
Abstract: An image sensor pixel that includes a photoelectric conversion unit supported by a substrate and an insulator adjacent to the substrate. The pixel includes a cascaded light guide that is located within an opening of the insulator and extends above the insulator such that a portion of the cascaded light guide has an air interface. The air interface improves the internal reflection of the cascaded light guide. The cascaded light guide may include a self-aligned color filter having air-gaps between adjacent color filters. These characteristics of the light guide eliminate the need for a microlens. Additionally, an anti-reflection stack is interposed between the substrate and the light guide to reduce backward reflection from the image sensor. Two pixels of having different color filters may have a difference in the thickness of an anti-reflection film within the anti-reflection stack.

  • Publication number: 20140115296
Abstract: A method of operating a memory device that includes groups of memory cells is presented. The groups include a first group of memory cells. Each one of the groups has a respective physical address and is initially associated with a respective logical address. The device also includes an additional group of memory cells that has a physical address but is not initially associated with a logical address. In the method, a difference in the future endurance between the first group of memory cells and the additional group of memory cells is identified. When the difference in the future endurance between the first group and the additional group exceeds a predetermined threshold difference, the association between the first group and the logical address initially associated with the first group is ended and the additional group is associated with the logical address that was initially associated with the first group.

  • Publication number: 20140115594
Abstract: Method, apparatus and system embodiments to schedule OS-independent “shreds” without intervention of an operating system. For at least one embodiment, the shred is scheduled for execution by a scheduler routine rather than the operating system. A scheduler routine may run on each enabled sequencer. The schedulers may retrieve shred descriptors from a queue system. The sequencer associated with the scheduler may then execute the shred described by the descriptor. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20140105375
Abstract: A communication system for communication sessions, such as voice calls, conference calls, and instant messaging chat sessions, includes a plurality of communication devices and one or more servers configured to provide data communication among the plurality of communication devices. Data contexts having chronological user-generated content are established and maintained between different communication devices. An indication of current user-generated content of a data context is sent from a calling/initiating party to one or more receiving parties when a communication session is initiated. The indication of current user-generated content can then be used by the one or more receiving parties to determine whether the communication session is to be accepted and, if accepted, to quickly become familiar with the subject of the communication session.

  • Publication number: 20140108728
Abstract: Provided are a computer program product, system, and method for managing a lock to a resource shared among a plurality of processors. Slots in a memory implement the lock on the shared resource. The slots correspond to counter values that are consecutively numbered and indicate one of busy and free. A requesting processor fetches a counter value comprising a fetched counter value. A determination is made as to whether the slot corresponding to the fetched counter value indicates free. A processor identifier of the requesting processor is inserted into the slot corresponding to the fetched counter value in response to determining that the slot corresponding to the fetched counter value indicates not free. The requesting processor accesses the shared resource in response to determining that the slot corresponding to the fetched counter value indicates free.
