Abstract: A printing apparatus including: an imaging mechanism; a drum for advancing media sheets past the imaging mechanism for printing; an encoder coupled to the drum; a controller coupled to the encoder; and, a memory coupled to the controller and containing controller executable code and at least one table including a plurality of data entries each indicative of one of a plurality of sequential drum positions and at least one associated action; wherein, the controller executable code, when executed by the controller, causes the controller, for each data entry in the table, to: communicate data indicative of the indicated drum position to the encoder; receive an indication that the drum has rotated to the communicated drum position; responsively to the received indication, initiate the indicated associated action; and communicate data indicative of another of the data entries' associated drum position to the encoder responsively to the received indication.

A shingling sequence for a first page of the multiple page print job is opened by successively passing a printhead over the print medium and the first page is printed in a steady state mode of the printhead. The steady state mode of the printhead is maintained during a transition between printing the first page and printing a second page of the multiple page print job, such that the second page is printed as a continuation of the shingling sequence for the first page.

Abstract: A printer system for and corresponding method of determining an arrangement of status objects forming a status tree structure used to represent hardware components contained within a printer and the status tree structure stored within a print engine of the printer. A change in operational condition of one of the hardware components are detected with a sensor. A state of a status object corresponding to the one of the hardware components is changed to have an active state. A name of the status object having the changed state is transmitted from the print engine to a controller. The status object having the changed state is queried for a root path of the status object with the controller.
