  • Patent number: 8979953
Abstract: An apparatus for generating hydrogen including a housing, a reservoir, and a piston is provided. The housing has a top wall, a bottom wall, and a sidewall. The top wall has vents and a protrudent column extending to the interior of the housing. At least one vent communicates with the top wall and the protrudent column and rest of the vents surround the protrudent column. The reservoir is disposed in the housing for storing a solid state reactant and divides the housing into a first chamber and a second chamber. The first chamber is located between the top wall and the reservoir. The second chamber is located between the bottom wall and the reservoir for storing a liquid reactant. The piston is disposed on the bottom wall. The piston is used to push the liquid reactant towards the reservoir to react with the solid state reactant to generate hydrogen.

  • Publication number: 20130280627
Abstract: A hydrogen-purifying device is suitable for a fuel cell (FC). The hydrogen-purifying device includes a guiding tank, a first water-absorbing material, a porous filter material and a second water-absorbing material. The guiding tank is connected to a hydrogen-generating device and a fuel cell. The hydrogen-generating device generates hydrogen, moisture mixed with the hydrogen and impurities mixed with the hydrogen. The first water-absorbing material, the porous filter material and the second water-absorbing material are disposed in the guiding tank. The hydrogen passes through the first water-absorbing material to remove a part of the moisture. Then, the hydrogen further passes through the porous filter material to remove the impurity. After that, the hydrogen further passes through the second water-absorbing material to remove another part of the moisture and arrives at the fuel cell.

  • Publication number: 20120082734
Abstract: A hydrogen production device includes a reaction unit and a hydrogen collection unit. The reaction unit includes a first region, a second region and a barrier layer. The first region stores a solid-state reactant, the second region stores a liquid-state reactant, and the barrier layer separates the first region from the second region. When the barrier layer forms an opening, the solid-state reactant comes into contact and reacts with the liquid-state reactant to produce hydrogen gas. The hydrogen collection unit has at least one gas vent to lead the hydrogen gas to flow into a hydrogen acceptor via the gas vent. The hydrogen gas is allowed to flow through the hydrogen collection unit, and the liquid-state reactant is prevented from entering the hydrogen collection unit.
